  • By far best bang for your buck when it comes too 10G Agg Switching.
Style: Switch
I have never had any issues with any of my copper or fiber ports, I have 2 of them (XG16s) and all copper ports are populated, and about half the fiber ports on each switch. I have never had an issue that I did not create, I use 10G and 1G copper on several types of NICs and devices, no problems. I have seen some users complain about copper ports connecting to certain devices, obviously you will only hear from people with the issues. I have not had any so I can not speak on it. As for DACs and SFP/SFP+ modules not working no matter what kind of switch you buy there will always be working and non working DACs and SFP/SFP+ modules that is not unique to this switch. There is a long list of working and non working DACs and SFP/SFP+ modules in the support forum. This is the case with every switch that uses them, you will have ones that work and others that don't. Only one set of SFP modules I have are Ubiquiti proprietary ones, all others are 3rd party DACs and SFP/SFP+ modules. I have never had one not work, this is because I looked up the working/nonworking module support thread. So as long as you do your homework you will know what to expect, what hardware you will need, what existing hardware may give you issues. This is by far the best bang for your buck, and I am more than happy with the performance and operation of all my Unifi hardware, specially the XG16 switches. With most high-end tech equipment you will see people that have tons of problems, that is mostly because people see all the bright and shinny spec listings and just impulse buy an expect everything to work magically. If you don't do your homework and you run into problems, specially incompatible module issues, it is no ones fault but your own. I will continue to recommend the switch (and the entire Unifi system) to anyone looking for advanced networking solutions. If you are not familiar with such systems there definitely will be a learning curve but that is true for anything "new". ... show more

  • Amazing 10G Switch!!
Style: Switch
The media could not be loaded. I wanted to make the switch to a 10G network and a full UniFi setup top to botttom. I have a UniFi gateway pro, 48 port switch POE switch, 8 port POE switch, this 16 port 10G aggregation switch, and 3 UniFi AP’s. The entire system setup was super simple. This switch is really one of the most important parts in network as all the uplinks from all other switches and my main file/media server all connect to it. I wanted to test it through put and see if I could accomplish a 10Gb/sec file transfer from my PC to the server (SPF+ on server via copper, RJ45 Base-T over cat6). It transferred at the full 10Gb/sec (1GB/sec) speed it is rated for, a 15 gigabyte file transfer in about 15 seconds over my network!!! See video. I love everything about the UniFi product line. The UniFi controller has a really cool feature that shows you the topology of your entire network (see attached picture). This is a great product that is really reasonably priced especially compared to other comparable 10G switches on the market, but the UniFi controller puts it over the top in my opinion. ... show more

  • Best price 10GBit switch with awesome features!
Style: Switch
I love Ubiquiti products. I have several of their switches and routers and never had a single issue. They can be a bit hard to configure if you need features that require the command line but they are solid. The best thing about them is that you can control all your switches centrally with their Unifi Controller software. The software takes care of all updates, config changes etc.! It shows you stats about your network in one spot. The performance of this switch is just amazing. It doesn't get hot. Temps are at around 40 celsius with all 16 10GB SFP+ ports being used. ... show more

  • Good price, good product
Style: Switch
I have not yet tested all the ports to ensure they all work. Normally i would not be suspicious buying something "new", however this item that arrived was clearly not New. Scuff marks on the outside of the switch were noticeable immediately after opening. Slight misalignment of the chassis indicates someone may have opened the chassis. When plugging in the switch, it was already managed by another controller. If this was used by someone less experienced, it would cause more issues having to reset first. Good price, good product. False advertising. Otherwise the product would get 5 stars. ... show more

  • As advertised, but for 1 gotcha
Style: Switch
Ok so I dont have 10gb pipe coming into my house, but do have some switches spread around and one out in the garage. Creating isolation with fiber is very attractive. Future proofing is very attractive. Extremely low latency , near zero "back plane" for all the other switches to connect to, and major network items.. very attractive. With all the IP cams in the house that report to a local SNDVR, having a local backbone with nearly Zip/Zero/Nada for delays relative to the switches attached to it, this became a no brainier. Add a few SFP modules, and some fiber cables, the longest 130ft to my garage / 40bux... All others fiber cables were under 20bux. The only negative I discovered, is that none of the ports will auto-negotiate or can be set to 100mb connections. So as much as I wanted to have the main switches with all the main items of my network on it, like the SNDVR, server and such on this switch, and not a sub switch... As well as my ethernet controlled PDU as well, I had to take the PDU and put it on a sub switch that port could negotiate to, or be set to 100mb connection. All my other main devices were 1gb Ethernet. I wont take off points for the 100mb port "thing".. it's a 10gb switch.. cant be all things to all people... so 1 minor item to be aware of. If I do get a big fiber based pipe coming into the house, I'm all set.. great future proofing. ... show more
