Great dash cam -- easy upgrade
This is my 3rd COOAU dashcam. They are great quality, affordable, easy to operate, and easy to install. The D30S has an useful suction cup mount that does away with the 3M tape, so it's easy to move around to get the best angle. The screen and video quality is great, too. The app is user-friendly and connects my phone to the dashcam to access videos and settings. I've had it installed for about 2 weeks now, and have had no issues. I upgrade this unit from an older COOAU model, and it took me less than 5 minutes. I was able to use the existing power cable and once I mounted it to the windshield, I just connected it to the existing app on my phone. Simple! We started using dashcams for our safety. We like the peace of mind they provide us.

Can’t beat it!
This is a really nice dash cam for the price. The installation is pretty straightforward. You can buy a hardwire kit and hardwire it, or just do like me and plug it up to usb charger in your vehicle. The video quality is great with different setting so you can choose the quality you want. Just make sure you follow the instructions for your SD card and format it the correct way before using it. Not sure what will happen, if anything if you don’t but I followed the instructions, formatted the card to fat32, and haven’t had any issues with it. They have an app the you use to pull up live view of the cam and view, download and share videos. Even shows your speed and location on a map if you want. The suction cup holds mine to my windshield good. If it gets really hot sitting in direct sunlight, it may come unstuck but rarely. And I live in south Ga. Had this camera in direct sunlight in middle of summer for hours. Never affected the camera. They even sent a usb plug so you don’t have to buy one if you don’t already have one.

Very good dashcam for front and inside car cabin.
I'm surprised how much I like this dashcam. I wanted an inexpensive dashcam that also had an inside the cabin camera as I may be doing rideshare during the day and wanted that for safety reasons. Installing with the suction cup mount has been very sturdy. That was a concern of mine since I live in the Desert and the heat can often loosen these types of mounts. It's been up for a couple days and in the sun as has stayed firmly on the windshield. The picture is clear and at 30fps it's very smooth. Definitely good to capture the events of an accident. I do wish I could be a tad sharper, but for the price it's a very clear picture and when the sun is shining in front it doesn't wash out the picture like some other cams can do. The cabin/inside camera is decent as well. I'm glad I took a chance with this unit.

not a pro model, but it's not bad
I purchased this dash cam and the optional hard-wiring package - and was hoping that I could set it up myself. I am sure many people have but after reading through the directions I asked a mechanic to do the job. Without hardwiring, however, it is very simple to install. However, where I saw a problem was that my cigarette lighter port, that the dash cam would attach to for charging, was not direct wired to the battery (car is off, no battery connection) - I did not feel confident it would stay charged (but I am not a mechanic so I can't be sure that is the case). I did have to purchase an SD card to save the recordings. Overall, the dashcam does work great and is very dependable: car on, recording starts and continues to record until the car is off. I understand that with the hardwiring it will detect sudden movement and will record even with the engine off; I can't be sure of that, however. But even if it was true, I do not think that will be helpful since the recording would not start until after the impact occurred. The images, both night and daytime, are clear and sharp. Where I see another potential issue is the amount of information that the camera can actually see. Its range for rear viewing is very limited - and it could only see something directly behind the car - and that would not tell you much. You wouldn't see the details of the other car, like you would with a rear car camera. The front camera takes good clear images but it probably would not capture much more than the actual impact, or a car crossing in front of you, since its field of view isn't much wider than the front of the car and a little on the sides of the hood. The other somewhat negative is you can only view the recordings by taking out the card and viewing from your computer. You can view the images from your phone from the app if the phone is in the car, and running. It does like you to format the card regularly, for some reason. It does overwrite images once the card is full, is my understanding - but still it wants you to format the card about once every 3 or 4 weeks. That is just a matter of pressing a button - but I'm not sure why it needs it so often - especially since a format wipes out all of the past information. For a dash cam it is better than nothing, I think - so it's not bad.

Excellent dashcam for front and inside safety rcording!
We purchased a new 2024 Acura RDX with he Advance package. We wanted a dash cam that was easy to install and setup, easy to operate and did not require any monthly subscription. This model (D30S) fits our needs perfectly. We wanted a dash cam that could record the front and inside of the car. The camera size is small and does not obstruct the driver or passenger view. The image clarity is exceptional for us - we set it up for Dual Mode (2.5K front and 1080p inside recording). The physical installation was very simple for me (less than 10 minutes). I did wish the dash camera used a USB-C connector instead of the microUSB connector, but the supplied cabling was very adequate! The dash cam mount worked very well - great suction mount. Word of warning - it actually works too well so plan your placement before attaching to the windshield so you don't have to adjust it multiple times! I did not install the parking mode hardware. Setting up the Date/Time and other settings was very simple and intuitive, especially you have experience with other dash cams in the past. A User manual did come with the package, but I didn't need to use it. The COOAUDASH APP was easy to install on my Samsung S23+ Android and Wifi pairing just worked! We did not want a voice command dash cam. We purchased the Samsung 256GB Pro Ultimate Flash and it worked with no issues at all! Overall, we highly recommend a good, solid dash cam without paying a high price. We are very happy with this purchase!

Trash as trash can be used to be so good not anymore
First off used this product for years it was great loved it, but now I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy. I had this review up on their app on Apple Store but doesn’t seem to matter so I’m putting here as well. Seems whenever you actually need the footage it’s gone or never recorded, like as you read it’ll just not record the entire minute around the event you needed to have captured it has happened over 200 times at least for me just hoping it actually catches the big one versus the close calls. Update(6-20-2025) used it a while longer still trash but seems whenever I almost have an accident around me or barely avoiding one the thing decides not to record that entire minute around the incident wouldn’t ever buy their products again, done all the formatting and restarting but nothing helps. (4-21-2025) Used these brand of cameras for years never had a issue until ficam app quit working switch to the COOAUDash app and now my camera when set to record every minute going down the road in the semi will record then not record, never in a set interval. Might go all day then when I need a clip it won’t be there has before or after it by one minute. Like today went to look for a clip and the whole trip was there until the event and after it for 15 minutes and recorded me pulling into my destination. It does a lot of good having the app when I never know if it’s going to always be recording or not definitely junking this brand of camera and getting something else. If the ones that made this app made the ficam app it’s all trash and will always be.

Great so far...
EDIT 02-28-24: Just bought another one for my wife Lisa... She absolutely loves it as it works great to record the trails she goes in with her Jeep Wrangler!!! 02-11-24: I just received the COOAU Dashcam D30S and so far it's performed exactly as stated... I installed it on my 2021 GMC Sierra, just to the left and slightly behind the rear view mirror, using using the GM taped mounting bracket. The suction cup mounting bracket seems to work well, however I wanted to use the lower profile one. I plugged the dash cam into the USB port instead of the 12v adapter port (GMC Sierra's 12v adapter port is always on unless you move a 50 amp fuse). Upon turning it on I found the menu was easy to navigate and quickly set the dash cam up. I installed the Ficam app on my phone and was able to quickly connect to the dash cam's Wi-Fi. I did notice that if you want to use the app outside the vehicle you will have to disconnect the dash cam and reconnect it to a micro USB (close to your phone) whenever you want to use the app. I can understand this as the dash cam has to be on when downloading video to the app. GPS seems to work okay, however I have noticed that when sitting still, especially inside a garage, the display sometimes shows that the vehicle is moving approximately 1 mph. So far the video looks very good on the small viewing screen and through the app. I've only had it installed for a day and have not used it a lot, so time will tell. The bright blue power and blinking red recording light are a little bit annoying when it is dark, however a small piece of electricians tape can take care of that. There's still a red dot on the screen that blinks when they dash cam is recording. I did not want to hardwire the dash cam to my vehicle at this time, as you need to purchase the wiring separately, so I guess it will not be using the parking mode (maybe at a later date). Pros: ... Small profile ... Easy to install with various options ... Accepts up to 256 GB micro SD ... Both cameras have good video ... Can record front of vehicle, inside vehicle or both ... View screen can show front of vehicle, inside vehicle, PIIP front of vehicle main or PIIP inside vehicle main ... View screen can be set to turn off or go into screensaver mode ... Navigation through the settings is very easy Cons: ... Blue power light and red blinking recording light are bright and annoying ... Wiring harness to hardwire and be able to use parking mode has to be purchased separately ... No internal battery, which would be nice to keep from having to hardwire dash cam to vehicle

App is Lacking
The device itself meets the expectations I had when purchasing. It is compact and light weight. The suction mount works great and makes it easy to place and remove for storage. The app is disappointing. In order to connect your phone to the camera it requires creating a WiFi network. Frequently on opening the app I find that the log in has expired, which is irritating. Also when trying to view or download videos on the app, the camera will disconnect from the phone, and will not connect again until the camera is shut off and turned on again. Overall, I think the device is well worth the money I spent. The app, however, needs serious improvement.
