I bought these to protect my doors from other vehicles opening theirs into mine, give me some protection from rocks chips and to give me a place to stand when washing the roof. They do that. The running boards stick out just enough so that if a vehicle next to you opens the door they will hit it instead. I do think the rear door of a vehicle next to you could still hit your door because they have a cut out on the lower portion for their wheel well. The 2016 through 2022 Tacoma white paint is notorious for peeling, flaking and blistering. I bought my truck used and don’t know if it has been repainted, but I thought these would also protect from any kind of rock chips. I haven’t gone as far as to get mudflaps yet to protect my vehicle 100%. They drop down a few inches to give your toes clearance while standing on them to wash your roof, but part of the frame and transmission are still lower. I wear size 10.5 shoes and you’re pretty much on your toes when washing the roof, but it’s better than having your door open. You can still hand wash underneath the door and above the running boards, but I could see having some problems if you use a wash brush with pole style. Other reviews mentioned their pants getting dirty when stepping in or out of the vehicle. I’m 6’1” and can pretty much step over the running board when entering, although I do touch it sometimes and it is an awkward feeling. When exiting the vehicle, you can turn sideways and place both heels on the running board to exit and push off of the seat and back rest to keep your pants clean. I suppose it depends on how dirty you let your running boards get and if you have a lift or not. I do not have a lift. They were easy to assemble. All four brackets have stamped letters in them and the directions show the positions. The running boards also have a D or a P sticker for driver or passenger on each end, so look at those before you install them. The rear is longer than the front. I installed all the screws loose and then put a bubble level on a flat portion of each step. The running boards did rotate a bit when tightening, so I had to pre-twist before doing the final torque to make them level. They are well built. Seamless construction, and a good coating for protection and longevity. The bolts all line up well. Tygers website says they can handle 500 pounds and have about 19 inches of clearance. Without a lift, I only have about 13 1/2 inches of clearance with mine. The four-door version has three brackets and this only has two. I think I read here that the capacity is 300 pounds and that is more likely for the access cab version. ... show more

These fit perfect! Really easy to understand the instructions and very quick install. Only downside I found was that the bars are pretty close to the body of the truck. Still very satisfied with the quality for the price I paid.

These look good, they are sturdy and easy to install. I probably spent more time checking out the parts and trying to figure what I had to do, than the time I actually spent installing them. One reviewer said the driver side parts were wrapped in one color and the passenger side parts in a different color. Mine was not like that so I initially had the wrong parts for the first side. But don't worry - all the parts are labeled. The brackets have letters stamped into them. Mine had A & C for the driver side brackets, and D & F for the passenger side, the steps had a D or P sticker on the front end. There are threaded holes on the frame of the truck, just remove the plugs if present. When mounting them start the bolts by hand; I was be able to tighten them most of the way by hand. Then snug them up after all bolts are installed on that side. ... show more

Installed to ‘20 Tacoma Crewcab. It’s exactly as depicted (fit/finish/quality) and the instructions are likely to be as clear as you’ll ever see with a very straightforward process. I’m mechanically inclined but not by any means efficient with my time and if i discount time spent to remedy my poor tool organization and over familiarity exercise with the instructions this would be a total 25-30 minute labor time install.. 1 hour 10 minutes total factoring in the other elements mentioned. 10 out of 10.. highly recommend. Had my gently used truck not been lifted (i assume based on others of the same model I cruise past or walk by in a parking lot which seem to be 2” or so shorter) i don’t think it would be upgrade other than visually. Extremely happy with the construction, heft and look of these Tyger boards. I had no problem installing them on my 2017 Tacoma access cab, hardware lined up perfectly. Only took 20 minutes after removal of old ones. I did end up switching the passenger and drivers side as I liked the look of them being an inch or so more forward.
