The media could not be loaded. This is my second diode laser, both rated at 10W power so I have very good comparative. My original laser cost slightly over $200 and this one is basically $500. First things first, it came in the box very well packaged. Came with instructions of assembly, safety glasses SD card and few wood boards for testing. Within an hour, I had it set up and ready to go. I'm using Lightburn and connecting was very straight forward. The laser dot is specced to be square at 0.06mm. It is not. It is slightly rectangular where the X axis cuts are wider than Y. This, in my experience, is common and all but one laser manufacturer lies about it. Half a star removed for this. Pros: 1)The cuts are really nice a crisp 2) the laser is fast (relatively speaking) 3) the focus adjustment is very simple and easy to do 4) has a glass window so that you can see the laser dot 5) comes with Air assist nozzle 6) frame is sturdy Cons: 1) The two end caps do not seat at the end of the frame (half star removed) 2) uses older version of GRBL 3) does not have dynamic laser on and off (no gray scale) 4) pricey Summary: Good laser, cuts fast, clean cuts, easy to use. Rating: Solid Recommendation Pros: Easy assembly Easy to use Quality construction Functions Cons: Assembly instructions are backwards No ports for attachments So first thing is that the assembly instructions are backwards in one of the steps. The side rails should be situated where the pully side is connected to the front. The instructions show it connected to the back. I only realized this when I was almost done with assembly and had to completely disassemble and start over. Once together you need to make sure to disengage the emergency stop, otherwise it won't turn on. The SD card comes with instructions, a useful settings chart, drivers and software, though I downloaded fresh software from the internet. I did a few more test runs of this but didn't grab photos. For the small area i was working with I'm really happy with the results. Additionally, I'm ecstatic that I could etch annodized aluminum with this, which is what I was wanting the most. My main issue is that there's no port for peripherals like a round stock rotator for tumblers and such. I would love to have that flexibility in something like this. Well packaged. Comes with everything you need. Easy to follow directions. Easy to set up. Works as expected for a laser engraver but for being 2.5 times the cost of my other machine, I expected it to wow me and it did not. The media could not be loaded. This seems like a great introduction to laser engraving. Assembly took much longer than expected. Don’t start assembly without first locating the USB drive and watching the assembly video. Don’t try to assemble using the paper instructions at all! Even using the video instructions, things took a while and a couple tries orienting parts and pieces. Using the engraver and included trial software has a bit of a learning curve. There is lots of trial and error with settings and materials. It has been fun to use with stainless steel, wood, and stone to varying degrees of success. The product itself doesn't have a lot of guidance on how to use it on different materials so I am having to go to outside forums to learn. It is sturdy and seems to be well made. ... show more

If you have any experience with 3D printers or CNC machines then assembly should be easy for you. Most of the assembly is already done at the factory. The frame is disassembled to make the shipping box smaller and therefore cheaper to ship. Everything was well protected in sturdy foam. All of the buttons, controller, stepper motors, limit switches, cables, etc are already attached to the frame rails. You basically just need to bolt the frame rails at the corners, plug in the cable ends and attach the laser module to the Y axis rail. The belts take a little efforts to thread up and around the pulleys. Belt tension is easy to accomplish with the tensioners. A memory card is included. The assembly video is VERY GOOD. It also contains PDF manuals and software. Laser GRBL and LighBurn. I'm really impressed with the complete setup. They took time to provide everything you need. ... show more
