The media could not be loaded. We love this unit. I capped off the old gas line and installed an electrical outlet in the back of the fireplace (much easier than I dreaded). We actually modified this insert quite a bit. We painted the front of it bronze (there was too much black for our liking… it looked very dark). We did Not paint the bottom of the front piece that was right above where the heat comes out (just to be extra safe). Also, as you can see, we ran fairy lights all around the insert and covered these with fire glass. It looks surreal. Lastly, we made one more modification….. the inside of the top is a bit dark on the far left and right edges and the detail was not really visible. So, we took the top off and hot glued fairy lights (200 of them!) along the inside in the top. The cool part about this is that even when we turn the unit off we can have the fairy lights on with the ones surrounding it and it looks amazing. Overall, we like this unit very much. We just like how we transformed it even more. The Lemon Wood model also looks more realistic to us. ... show more

I installed this insert inside of a gas fireplace with a glass front that does not easily open. The original configuration included fake logs with a grate and gas jets built into the insert. I removed the logs and just placed the new electric insert on the old grate. Don't worry, there is no gas supply connected to the fireplace at all because it was very inefficient. I will not be using the heat function of the new insert, and wish it had a lock-out switch. The TURBRO Eternal Flame 26-Inch Infrared Quartz Electric Fireplace Log fit perfectly on the old grate and this places it at a good height in the fireplace. I reinstalled the glass and tested the remote and everything works fine. ... show more
