  • An Affordable Clay 3D Printer With Promise but Painful Follow Through
I was drawn to this 3D printer because clay printers from other sellers were far more expensive. Like most low-cost 3D printers, this one is not beginner friendly. It has no auto-level function, though that is less of a problem because the margin of error is much greater (.3 to .5 mm). The printer doesn't come with any software, and though the handbook guides you through the suggested options in a 3rd party software, I found myself having to tweak those options and the dispensing settings frequently. While I did get it to print successfully eventually, I had to water down my clay to the point that the print lost structural integrity. Which brings me to what I determined was the nail in the coffin- the motor in the clay dispenser is too weak for most normal clays. Using moist clay caused the printer to dispense at a glacial pace, sometimes stopping and getting stuck. Watering it down to be usable caused structural instability and a lack of detail on the outside. The design of this printer requires you to take it apart and put it back together again whenever the clay clogs, or dries, or runs out. Taking it apart causes clay to spill out, and if you think it was hard to put the machine together in the beginning, it only becomes harder when your hands and the machine are covered in watered down clay. Lastly, when you try using moist clay with this printer, it is LOUD. That's my two cents. If you want to try a clay 3D printer and want the most affordable option, this is it. But ask yourself, after reading this review, if it's really worth it. ... show more
