After much research, I settled on the Trijicon HD night sights (orange front post) for my daily carry Glock 19. Bottom line up front: these are some of the best sights I have used on a handgun. They are not without their limitations, and not for everyone, but for me and my needs, they are just about perfect. What do you get in the box? A rear and front sight, all metal construction, of the same height. Rear sight is blacked out with 2 tritium lamps, front sight is a tritium lamp surrounded by orange or yellow phosphorescent paint. First and foremost, I am traditionally not a fan of tritium-filled night sights. I am, generally speaking, a fiber-optic kind of guy. Most of my training and time behind tritium pistol sights have shown me that their uses are limited. Generally, they only glow in very dark environments -- and in those environments, target identification is paramount, thus the use of a hand-held or pistol-mounted light -- thus, your night sights go away because the area is too bright. It's an ultimate catch 22. Fiber optic sights have always circumvented this problem. How did the Trijicon HDs change my mind on tritium? Ultimately, it boils down to a handful of reasons. 1) the tritium lamps here in the rear sight are very bright - enough so that they glow in-doors even in the late afternoon. Much brighter and easier to pick up than other tritium lamps I have seen. 2) The large orange dot on the front sight is highly visible in the day time, and phosphorescent enough that it shines/ reflects somewhat when using a light in total darkness. This is excellent, and helps you acquire a sight picture in many lighting conditions. Why these sights over a different name brand? A handful of very clever design decisions give these sights an edge over the competition and worth the high asking-price. The tritium rear sights all but disappear in day-time light - acting as blacked-out rear sights. This makes the sight picture less busy and acquiring the orange front post very fast under stress. The back of the rear sight is cross-hached, making it less likely that the rear sight will attract glare in the sunlight, and on a Glock, the Trijicon HD's rear-sight extends to the very back of the slide (unlike the stock sight), improving the sight radius slightly. Furthermore, the front-end of the rear sight is U-shaped with a slight hook, aiding in one-handed manipulation of the handgun such as racking the slide off of a belt buckle, etc. Lastly, the notch on the rear sight is notched in a U shape rather than a traditional squared shape. This aids in front-sight acquisition and fits the orange (or yellow, depending on model ordered) front sight perfectly. Why might these sights not be for you? The sights seems designed more toward speed than precision. The bright orange dot is very easy to keep track of during follow-up shots and rapid strings of fire. If you're looking for sights that will help you hit a silver dollar at 25 yards, you'll want to look elsewhere (much cheaper sights are available for that purpose). If you're looking for sights that will help you shave a few fractions of a second off your ability to draw and put 5 rounds into an 8-inch plate at 7 yards, these are what you've been looking for. Some room for improvement? First up, the tritium on the front and rear sights is all the same color- green. Although the front sight is surrounded by orange color, this can be hard to see in the dark. Having green rear and orange front tritium would be nice. Next, the paint on the front sight does glow when exposed to light... but not nearly long enough, and needs to be exposed to a lot of light before it starts giving off it's own light. If it could be "charged" with a flashlight and last a few hours, that would be nice. If it could glow for a few minutes after just being exposed to a street light at night, that would be even better. Last - the rear sight has some sharp points at the top of the notches. It has yet to interfere with my draw, poke my skin, or anything of the such after thousands of draws, but it's there, and it might be a snag hazard depending on your concealment garment. Over all - the sights changed my opinion on tritium sights. These are useful and visible in a wide variety of lighting conditions, indoors and outdoors, and have some very well-thought out design choices to help give them an edge. For a self-defense minded shooter, these are hard to beat.

Bought these based on many positive reviews online. The stock Glock 42 and 43 three-dot combo works well, but my old eyes can use help. My armorer got hold of a good sight installer for little Glocks, and installed this today. The two "green" (looks grey so far to me) dots on the rear sight, with the squarish white (stock) "cup" removed do tend to draw my eyes to the new "cup" ("notch", whatever). Then the orange (some prefer yellow) front dot, which is larger than the original white dot, simply makes it easier to "front sight aim" the 42. My accuracy (with the other items installed also) improved from an average 8" to 10" groups at 21 feet (small guns aren't usually as accurate as big ones) to about 4.5" at 21 feet on a mil/pol (military and police) standard 8" target. Even with the other mods, this one improved my ability to acquire the target and accurately hit what I aimed at. So have ordered one for the 43 also (supposedly fits both the 42 and 43). And the slightly increased size of the front sight doesn't conflict with my Blackhawk Serpa CQC holster. I really like this sight kit on my 42. ADDENDUM Glock 43: Fits perfectly, does exactly the same aiming help as on the 42. Again, got the orange dot, which I prefer to the yellow (others prefer the yellow, both work very well). Tried a friend's yellow dot, and still prefer orange. Draws the eye to the front sight for correct aiming, the orange during the day, and those easy to see tritium dots at night (yet the don't illuminate my face). Have bought a set for my VP9, just waiting for the correct adapter to install it. Am saving up to put a set on my my FNS-9 and probably the FNS-9c. Wish there was a set for the KelTec P32, but it's so small, it's more of a belly gun for short range that you don't waste time trying to aim. Armorer installed easily on the Glock 43, only a single correction to get the aim accurate (r to l; most pistol iron sights don't correct for low or high). Very pleased with this addition to the 43 and 42. OVERTIME: Oct 2015. Love this on my G42 (sold G43 to my brother). Armorer got one for his (much younger). Now have the appropriate kit (same orange dot) on my VP-9, and as soon as the adapter comes for the tool, will put it on my FNH FNS-9. REALLY like these sights for my old eyes. Have been able to maintain 2" at 50 feet supported)and 3.2" unsupported (old age is a factor).

Okay so hands down these are the best sights I've ever used. They were simple to install and dead accurate! The fluorescent orange really pops and the way the sights are caught makes it so much faster and easier to get on target. As far as accuracy I would say I'm about the same but sights won't really make you more accurate when it boils down to it your form and technique as well as sight picture is what determines your accuracy. Now with that said I can confidently say I am much faster! I can fire 2-3 rounds accurately with these sights in the amount of time it would take me to with the factory glock sights. Also I would like to address the fact that these are steel sights so they will be more durable and they are super easy to use as leverage to rack the slide in the event of a failure like against your belt or any surface really. Lastly these are tritium and mine came very bright so I expect 12 years out of them. Most attacks happen in the dark so I highly reccomend anyone to get some sort of night sight for their self defense weapon. When out away from home I feel so comfortable with these and I would trust my life to them. Plus Trijicon hands down has some of the best customer service. I use their other products like acogs, but I am not a fan boy as I also run eotech and aimpoint as well as elcan I just wanted to point out that they are a solid company.

Someone at the range had the HD sights and let me shoot their gun. I really liked and I got it myself. I ordered the orange HD sights. I tried it out today. It worked great for fast target acquisition. The Trijicon does what people say it does. I was able to acquire my target quickly and I was shoot accurately. I believe the distance I was using was 15 yards and a second target at 20 yards. My target at 15 yards was the size of a plate and I was able it hit it directly in the middle. It is also very bright at night as well. The tritium does not need complete darkness to start glowing. I had a friend with a pusher install it for me. We just eye balled it to make sure the rear sight was centered. I hope this was helpful to others.

The claims seem to be more than theory based. My old go-to sight were XS big dots which you have to train to bec it's a different sight picture than we're all used to. These are pricey but worth it and in the same price point as others on the market. These should come on every pistol from the factory. These are the only acceptable option for a piece of life support equipment. The brightness, speed and service life are exceptionally good. Your eye is naturally drawn to corners, so by eliminating the corners it allows the eye to focus completely on the front sight. Bec they don't have corners they seem to be faster. I tested this with 3 different bros on a shot timer. We were all faster, with these over traditional sights where the rear has corners. Making your hits is all that matters when you have to use the a life saving tool..

Everyone seems to consider these the gold standard for night sights, and all things considered I'm going to have to agree. Let me first say I'm used to XS Big Dot sights, which I've been using on my G19 for years now. I've probably fired 5000 using XS Big Dots so I'll compare the Trijicons to those. Pros: These are quick and accurate. Qualities that are typically mutually exclusive, but in this case they pulled off both. The orange dot really grabs your eye and since you should be looking at either the front sight or target (depending on your shooting philosophy) there's nothing lost by not having daytime dots on the rear sight. The easy of accuracy with these is one of the big selling points over XS Big Dots. Big Dots aren't made to be accurate. They're the fastest sight setup there is, but if you need to place an accurate shot past 25 yards, or hit something only a couple inches wide, you have to reeeaaally slow down. Enough that it couldn't be done in a life or death situation. With the Trijicon sights you just line up the top of the front sight with the top of the rear, and the bullet goes where the top of the sight is... Simple and traditional. On the pro side of the nighttime sight picture, the dots glow bright and are quick to pick up. Cons: On the con side of the day or nighttime sight picture, a hasty presentation to target does pose one potential problem, and that's obscuring the front sight with the large rear sight, if you aren't lined up very well. I don't think this is a big issue if you practice with and handle your gun often, but it could be a concern if you're the type that only takes the gun out twice a year unless you need it. Speed is a strong suit with these sights, but there's no doubt XS Big Dots are faster. Personally for a dedicated carry gun I'd use Big Dots. They have an edge if you might have to make an extremely hasty shot. For home defense I feel these are probably still best though. Installation: Biggest con is installation difficulty. I read everyone else's problems with installation and thought "Ya whatever, I'm sure they're just being dumb, or assuming it's going to be too easy." Nope. These are really really tough to install. I have a decent set of tools that help you with on guns without scratching things. Hard nylon tools, etc.. The front sight goes on easily, but only if you have the right size sight wrench for working with [current] Glock front sights (the ones with the flat hex nut on the underside). The rear sight was insane. I put the slide in a vise and pounded away using a nylon punch and a hand sledge. Every time it for 40% of the way in and was totally jammed. My solution was to jury rig thing with my vice so the slide was at an angle (relative to the longitudinal axis), allowing the slant of the rear sight to be flat against the vice face. I then had to apply significant torque on the vice arm to slowly drift the rear sight into place. It was a very tedious operation which was tough to do without damaging the slide or sight. I can't say I'd recommend anyone try it, but I wasn't about to drive an hour to a reputable gunsmith. I ended up getting it done and I can assure you the sights won't be going anywhere on their own.

The sights arrived on time and in perfect condition. These were recommended to me by a firearm instructor I've trained with a few times. I've had Trijicon night sights for years already on my Glocks, but decided to try these out for the heck of it. I'm impressed. The big orange dot up front is picked up lightning fast, and the sights being a touch taller helps with the speed of alignment regardless of how much light you have. In the dark they seem faster because of the slightly taller height over bore, and that I have new, bright, tritium (instead of 8 year old tritium) obviously helps too. What's really cool is transitional lighting; The front sight's orange paint gets charged up by the sun (or direct artificial light) and stays glowing brighter than the green tritium when transitioning into a shadow, or dark room/structure of some kind, so for multiple minutes you still have an orange front sight, which has huge contrast against the green rear dots. And if you happen to stay in the dark long enough for the orange paint to stop glowing, there's still the good 'ol green tritium lamp in there too. All the good stuff aside, these sights don't fix sh*tty shooters. If you suck with the factory sights (because you think the factory sights are causing you to suck)(similar to the "problem" people have with Glock OEM triggers), don't spend your money on these yet. Instead, get some legitimate training. Then buy these. Or buy these, followed immediately by taking a class.
