    • Great and simple stove!
I just used this stove on recent camping trip, early October in northern Minnesota, and it worked perfectly. The morning and evening temps were in the upper 30's F, when I cooked our meals. I bought this kit and then added the 4.5 L billy can. The stove kit nests into the billy can nicely. It is super quiet and worked great over 4 days and in a very strong winds. It is a lot simpler to use than the my MSRs and there are no moving parts to break. I have been using a MSR Whisper lite stove for 20 years and Dragonfire stove for 10 years. Both have worked well for our Boundary Water canoe trips twice a year. Usually I am cooking for a 4 person crew, and have both stoves going at the same time, one to fry fish or steak and the other to simmer rice or pasta. Both get hotter than the Trangia, but both MSRs became inoperable in the field at different times as a result of the pumps having a broken seal. They still run and work well, but with the neccessary replacement pumps. I have replaced my MSR Dragonfire with this Trangia to be my rice and pasta stove as the Trangia is immensely more quiet. It does take longer to boil water with the Trangia; however, the operational ease and good performance in strong winds make it the more reliable option for me. ... show more

I did my research on this item and I bought it for my emergency needs. We had a hurricane come through and lost power for a week. I didn't have any way to heat up food and it was horrible.
