  • WOW - Smoking fast WiFi - Just buy one!
Replaced my 6 year old Airport Time Capsule wireless network due to failing wifi radios. Turned the wireless option off, hooked up my new AX1800 to my Time Capsule router port and the magic came back. I am getting in excess of 200 mbps on the 5 GHz channel and 40 mbps on the 2.4 GHz channel. Never saw this speed on the 5 GHz with the Time Capsule. I still perform wireless backups on the Time Capsule, albeit much more quickly. I configured my AX1800 manually without a problem, I still have to mirror the port forwarding from the Time Capsule. The AX1800 does not run hot, checked it for a week while streaming HD to 2 smart TVs while connected to several iOS devices on both channels. Flawless performance. The only problem encountered was with my daughter's Lenovo Flex 14. I had to manually update the wifi driver for the Intel wireless adapter as the computer would not recognize the AX comm spec. Ah Windoze, W10 is another typical crippled OS from the MS dungeons. But it seems now that if you have enough time and motivation you can find a solution online. So glad I left the MSverse all those years ago. ... show more

  • Easy setup, strong signal & fast speeds
I helped a friend and neighbor by installing this router. He was having signal and speed problems after he moved his computer from the first floor to the 2nd floor of his house. In addition, he was moving to a bedroom at the opposite end of his 2400 sq ft house from the modem & old router. The setup was fast - a little confusing between using an iOS app and then getting on his computer - but everything worked w/o reading a manual. Total time was about 15 min. to connect his computer, phone, iPad and a 2nd phone. At his computer, he was getting about 1 bar signal (flickering) with about 10 mps download. With the new router, he is getting 3 steady bars and 70 mps download. His Internet service is rated at 75 mps. ... show more

  • Nice router for the average modern home
This router has excellent connectivity with both wired and wireless connections. The speed with wi-fi 6 is more than I need, but it is impressive. I have echos, rokus, smart tv's, light switches, electrical outlets, thermostats, computers, gaming consoles, printers, tablets, and cell phones all connected to it without any problems. The tether app works well on my phone an allows me the opportunity to make changes to the network if needed, however I mostly use it to see the routing table and note what's connected or not at any given time. Your average modern home with streaming televisions, cell phones, tablets, smart devices, etc. all seem to work well with this router and keep a reliable connection. I do have it bridged with an older TP-Link wireless router, which helps to expand wireless coverage through my home. They seem to work well together, but I allow the AX1800 to manage the routing tables and assign the ip addresses for everything. Definitely consider this wireless router if you don't specifically need the very best in speed and don't want to spend a ton of money. It does a nice job. ... show more

  • WiFi 6 or Mesh
I was on the fence between Wifi 6 or Mesh and decided to go with this. There were many reasons for getting a mesh but at the end of the day I couldn't find a tri band mesh system that fit the bill for my price range. Luckily with this it turns out that I don't need a mesh system and the speeds at 50ft away were still over 100mb on 5G. (My internet is 300/300) Pro: Range (For single floor) Speed 2G/5G or one SSID and router decided 2/5G for you USB port for external HD makes for a cheap network drive Quick and easy set up Able to turn off device lights Able to handle large amounts of devices (Currently at 30+) Cons: Limited setting functions on the router Default setting renews IP every 2 hours which will cause devices to DC. Have to change manually to maximum allowable limit. Already been replaced with a better vented update (AX21) Upload is kind of wonky. Sometimes the speed test will fail during the upload part. If you are using this on multiple floors with a lot of walls the range might not be ideal. Don't expect life changing updates that will improve user interface. Must use tether app to set up ... show more

  • Alexa skill is not implemented
As a networking router this is great for my house. My WiFi used to be an Archer C9, an 802.11G access point for some devices that wouldn't work with the C9, and a power-line extender to get to the far reaches of the house. Now that I have the AX20, I only have 1 device. It is fully compatible with my older device (a wifi thermostat), and is strong enough to stream to the far reaches of my house. I love the simplification. I have always liked the TPLink Tether app on my phone for managing the router. I appreciate that this behaves as an appliance -- once configured it simply works...and that configuration takes moments. Although the Alexa integration is not "native" (you can't simply add the device through the Alexa menus), you can install the TPLink skill using your TPLink credentials and control the device through "Alexa turn on/off TPLink guest network" (as an example). ... show more

  • AX1800 is fast, very good signal strength even through multiple walls.
TP-Link WiFi 6 Router AX1800, great router, easy to install. Fast router, great signal strength even trough multiple walls. I bought this to replace my Netgear Nighthawk AC1750. With the nighthawk I was getting an average of 60~70Mbps download connecting to the 5Ghz band. With this router I'm getting 97Mbps, sometimes up to 200Mbps. Also my solved my Eufy doorbell connection to peer issue. I got a new Eufy doorbell as a warranty replacement, and I couldn't get it to connect to the chime, and could not finish the setup to get the doorbell to work. It connected to the router just find, but wouldn't connect to the chime(peer). The 2nd replacement was the same issue. Once I upgraded to this router, no issue with the doorbell peer connection. I would highly recommend this router. ... show more

  • Easy switchover...
I finally replaced my middle of the road Buffalo router that was about 13 years old. Never had any issues but thought it's time to upgrade with all the wifi now used. Could not find a comparable Buffalo (may be no more?)...I settled on the tp-link wifi6. One of their newer offerings but at a reasonable price. Set up was a breeze using the phone app. Basically unplugging, re plugging, waiting for the reboots and it was good to go. I only get about 20 Mbps from spectrum so my tv/TiVo combo is connected with Ethernet. Still I was getting some dreaded hesitation (spinning circle) during some shows. So far with the tp-link I have not had that happen. I did try moving the antenna in different positions but hard to tell where they send the best signal. So far happy with this unit. Hopefully it will last half as long as the Buffalo. ... show more

  • Last time buying TP-link
Originally I bought this router for my GF's family. I ended up finding this Router due to the price and great reviews. Initial use was great the signal reached further than their previous router which was great. 2 months in and the internet goes out. I told them to power cycle and the Internet is back. Months go by and I ask how everything is going, and they tell me that they have to constantly power cycle the router due to the internet going out often. I take the router off their hands and they end up just renting a router from their ISP (have had no issues since then). I take the router back home to see if the router was the issue or maybe if it was the ISP a week in the internet goes out and I power cycle and the internet comes back. 2 weeks later the internet goes out again I have to power cycle several times for the internet to come back. I call my ISP to see if there are any outages or if the modem was offline they let me know that they don't see any issues. I submit an email to the TP-Link tech support. They respond after several days asking if I could send them a list of everything going on when the internet goes out. I respond and they then tell me to make sure that the Firmware is up to date which it was not, so I update the firmware. After that, the internet would go out every 2 to 3 days. I ask them if they could send a replacement since it was still under warranty. They tell me that they would like to continue with troubleshooting before sending a replacement. A month later and I finally get to replace the router. I have 4 options. 1. I have to ship the device and pay for the shipping myself and not get reimbursed. Once they get it they will ship a replacement. 2. TP-Link will provide the replacement ahead of receiving the defective product. A replacement will be sent via ground shipping. There is a fee of $14.99 3. TP-Link will provide the replacement ahead of receiving the defective product. A replacement will be sent via 2-Day delivery. There is a fee of $24.99 4. TP-Link will provide the replacement ahead of receiving the defective product. A replacement will be sent via Next-Day delivery. There is a fee of $49.99 I finally get the replacement and 2 weeks later the internet goes out. Again I submit another ticket for this replacement router. I Spend another couple of weeks with the technical support team and start the same process all over. After the whole process, I still was having issues and give up. I just bought a new router the Linksys - AC1750 hopefully this one works better, fingers crossed. ... show more
