The description says "compatible with Alexa". This is true but misleading. You have to install another app first. Then you can apparently control it with Alexa. I wouldn't know; my phone memory is almost full and I didn't have room for any more apps. I assumed that a product that says it works with Alexa would actually work with Alexa. Requires two apps to be installed, and this is what I was trying to avoid. This product is useless to me now as I neglected to try it during the first 30 days. That's on me, but I'm getting really tired of this type of deceptive advertising. Buyer beware!

I already have a dozen EM plugs (good to micro manage your ToU power) from another vendor but decided to try these on a good sale. They're fine, but there are a few slight downsides I noticed, compared to 3R. First is the size, they're a little bigger (deeper and wider), so your exact plug configuration could be affected (2 will fit in 2 regular outlets, no worries.) Second is, yes you have to install them through (yet another) Tapo app... This is the Only place you'll get all their EM data, nicely graphically displayed. (Yes, they can then be installed under SmartThings as a partner brand, but you can only see/control On-Off and simple timing routines in ST.) The last detail is I can't find a continuous running total of kWH! They show kWH per day week month and year, but that implies on January 1 everything resets. This is an issue if you're recording your data and calculating energy use per time interval that's not one of the above. If you already have a Kasa or TP-Link smarthome then these probably fit right in. If you have a SmartThings home like I do, then there's a little bump. But the plugs work fine as smart plugs if the form factor and other issues aren't a problem for you.

Paired with Bluetooth super easily in the Tapo app. Added to Home Assistant with great ease. I setup an alert for when the washing machine power usage drops below 1W for 2min that it tells me it's done. I originally bought some kasa minis but they don't do energy monitoring. So I put the kasa minis on a fan and a dehumidifier since I don't care about their energy usage. Tapo also imported my kasa plugs when creating my account, but there's an option in the menu to link your kasa account. Also, the two apps share credentials. So use your kasa credentials to login if you already have a kasa account.

I don't know how they are giving these @ the price. I had 2 from a year back and added these and all of them work flawless. My cell is my on/off switch for everything in my apartment.

I've got a bunch of these type of smart devices in my home. Lights, computers, fans, my air purifier... They're all set up on Tapo smart plugs. This gives me the ability to turn off and on these devices from anywhere. These plugs rock because they also include energy monitoring inside the app. I've used these a number of times to diagnose a fault in my computer setup. Too much power used=possible issue that needs repair. These are super handy! I do wish the energy usage display in the Tapo app would refresh more frequently (like the Kasa app used to).
