I bought this router because I'm studying and wanted to set up my own private network at home to practice. I was researching options and AI specifically recommended this one, so I decided to give it a shot, and honestly I don't regret it. What I liked the most is the interface, it's really user-friendly and easy to configure, you don't need to be an expert to understand it. It has 2.5G and 1G ports which help a lot if you have equipment that can take advantage of those speeds, and being Wi-Fi 7, the connection speed and stability feel way superior compared to previous routers I've had. Right now I have practically everything in my house connected to it: laptops, TV, consoles, cameras, and you can't even tell there are that many devices, the connection stays stable with no lag or drops. It's also helped me separate my network into different segments, which I really value given what I'm currently studying. Initial setup was quick through the app, and everything has worked smoothly ever since. For the price, it's a great option if you're looking for something modern, fast, and reliable for your home. An absolutely excellent router at a ridiculously good price on Amazon resale. I'm forever updating and expanding my TP-LINK network all over the house and out to the garage and yard. This is configured as an EXTENDER although you can also use it as a MESH, however the MESH multiple device limitations in a multi-router configuration is absolute garbage no matter which brand you use. Theoretically you should be able to use many devices but realistically more than 3 MESHED devices cause constant connectivity problems and dropped devices. TP-LINK consistently has good options in its configurations for these routers to serve your needs however you want to configure them and the speed is outstanding. TLDR: I think Tom's Hardware Guide said it best "Bringing Wi-Fi 7 to the masses... The TP-Link Archer BE3600 is cheap, but you also don’t get the full spec of features or performance of “true” Wi-Fi 7 routers". If you’re not big into gaming and just want a no-frills router to support your 1 Gbps or lower internet connection, there’s nothing wrong with the Archer BE3600. I personally, am very happy with my purchase and it's probably the best solution for 85% of people out there/ non-enthusiasts. NOTE: I paid $83 for this Wifi router using an Amazon coupon. Which I think is a very fair price for something I only plan to upgrade every 5-7 years, and only if I have to. I also live in a townhouse, so it's not like the signal has to go 60+ft. Details: Upgrading from a TPLINK AC1750 (Archer A7) [release ~2018], using Comcast internet (Fast plan; up to 600 mbps down) and a Netgear AC1200 WiFi USB Adapter 802.11ac Dual Band, USB 3.0 (on my computer but in a USB 2.0 port) which was about 7 feet away from the wireless router and I saw a measurable increase in my download speeds (~45% from ~260mbps to ~380 mbps using Ookla speed test). Purportedly the TP-Link BE3600 which was released in the 2024/2025 timeframe uses the same frequency bands (5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands) as the older TPLINK AC1750 (Archer A7), but uses the newer and faster WIFI 7 (802.11be) vs the older WIFI 5 (802.11ac) protocols. The TP-Link BE3600 advertises up to 3.57 Gbps (aka 3570 Mbps; 2882 Mbps in 5 GHz band + 688 Mbps in 2.4 GHz band) whereas the Archer A7 only 1.75 Gbps (1300 Mbps in 5GHz + 450 Mbps in 2.4 GHz bands). Practically speaking the internet says anything above 100 Mbps should be able to run multiple devices pretty well streaming. But I'm upgrading anyway, because my mother needs a new router so she doesn't have to pay $10/mo for one from the cable company. I have no complaints. Easy to setup and connect to. I realize I'm now probably being gated by my older Netgear AC1200 WiFi USB Adapter which is using a USB 2.0 port (max speed 480 mbps) but my speeds are enough for me; my newer gaming PC which sits about 10 ft away from the router and uses a built-in WIFI card (Wi-Fi 6E 802.11ax) manages ~500 mbps down. CAVEAT: I do want to note my older Netis WF2120 Wireless N150 Nano USB Dongle 802.11 b/g/n (aka WIFI 1/3/4) on an older computer was not able to see the 2.4 GHz signal from the BE3600 whereas it could from the AC1750; so I replaced it. I ended up using a spare Wavlink 600M dual-band connectivity (2.4GHz and 5GHz) USB WiFi adapter which uses 802.11ac WIFI 5; and had to update the drivers on my older windows PC in the process (to recognize the Wavlink adapter). ... show more

So this review is honest and mixed. First, the router out of the box is spectacular! Works like a charm and with the teather app its perfect for shipping to a parent or location that you want to remotely manage. Great signal strength and solid as a rock. Just make sure to disable firmware updates. The latest update made it unusable. Radios kept turning off after 30 minutes. No way to downgrade, trying kept failing. Router became a door stop. Had to return it. Customer support is a joke. So, great Router but disable updates. Support is offshore and terrible. ... show more

My previous router from this company finally died and I needed a replacement. It took me longer to mount this to the wall than it took to set it up. Speeds and coverage are as advertised and it immediately meshed with my existing range extender which is of a different manufacturer. The default settings are minimal and perfect for most users, but if you want to mess around with more advanced features, they're easy to set up if you want to use them. I always put my own router/wifi access point between my ISP modem and my home network so that I can turn off firewalls, wifi, sharing, etc on the modem and let the router that I own take care of that. ISP providers hate it when they can't use your modem as a location node, share your wifi with strangers, block torrent networks, or collect telemetry data. Data providers/collectors shouldn't get anything from you other than the monthly bill and this router brand is very good about that. ... show more

Holy moly! I could not be happier! I studied network administration in college and have always been a power user for networking and network devices. I've had a bad impression of tplink for almost 2 decades, avoiding them like the plague. I researched and decided to give this router a try. It has surpassed my expectations for a router upgrade by miles. I don't have any wifi6e capable devices aside from one desktop which will be wired once everything is done with. So I have no use for the 6Ghz ity bity range band and I'm happy to have the option to save money to ditch a band that's useless to me and get all the perks of wifi7 at such a low price! I knew now is the time to upgrade because this router will be illegal soon in the US due to the foreign made router ban coming soon. I'm shocked prices haven't shot up around the $600-$1k price yet, but it's coming. My favorite part about this upgrade is finding out I actually have had Gigabit internet all this time without knowing. My last router never saw 500Mb and I have cable Internet, so I thought 400Mb was my top speed. My concern now is that my ISP will see my speed and slow me down. I was initially excited to get the TP-Link BE3600 router because it was marketed as Wi-Fi 7. However, I quickly discovered that it actually operates on Wi-Fi 6. While it’s labeled as a Wi-Fi 7 router, it doesn’t support the full Wi-Fi 7 specification — specifically, it’s missing the 6 GHz band, which significantly impacts performance. As an experienced system administrator, I was looking forward to the advancements that Wi-Fi 7 promises, so this was quite disappointing. Additionally, since this is a 2 x 2 Wi-Fi router, it offers only half the theoretical performance of other dual-band Wi-Fi 7 peers, like the Asus RT-BE88U. On a positive note, the speeds are phenomenal; I’ve managed to configure the router to exceed the speeds I’m capped at by my ISP which is 150Mbps. I usually install DD-WRT on my routers for more control, but unfortunately, that’s not an option with the BE3600. The firmware provided by TP-Link is decent, but I prefer the customization that DD-WRT offers. While the router does have some positive features, such as WPA3 security and the ability to easily set up a VPN, the limitations are frustrating. There’s no admin login option, just a password login, and the password length is capped at 30 characters, which is far less than my preferred 72 characters for stronger security. Furthermore, the log file doesn’t collect any useful informational logs, making troubleshooting a challenge. On the plus side, it integrates well with TP-Link's mesh network, but overall, the misleading marketing and limitations make it a livable router until I find something better.
