The media could not be loaded. I was a little skeptical because of the price, and they seemed like they might be flimsy before putting them together but to my surprise they are nice and sturdy and my hens started using them the same day! The only complaint is that the faux grass pads don't fit, but I just reused the pads I had in the old boxes.

I give these a 4.5 for the simple functionality and ease of cleaning. I think the 10 pack ran $17 and change each before tax. Pros: Easy assembly. Easy to hang a few different ways. Super easy to clean. I have one coop that has an idiot rooster that likes to get in the nest box for some reason, and isn't polite enough to use the outdoor loo.. I have the box in this pen hung on powder coated wire, so I backed it on the other side with two 1x6 and screwed to that. This leaves a gap I can spray a hose through, and the droppings liquify and spray right out. Cons: Flimsy where the flaps snap into the base, and jerk rooster (who I let live because he's good with his hens) can get it loose. I plan to try a couple of plastic grommets I can loop an elastic band around to secure the opening end, thus giving him no leverage to unhinge the other end. The included nesting pads seem to be sized for a different model, and slid towards the catch pan end. For now I have them flipped over, and put wide ways to side ways if that makes sense.. I will either zip tie the uphill end or replace the mats with something I cut to fit, but working for now as long as I reposition each time I check for eggs. Overall better than I expected.

My chickens refuse to use these nesting boxes. Removed their old boxes and replaced with these in the same spot. using the the same nesting material. After several months, they are still laying eggs on the floor instead of in these. Will be replacing with the gray tried and true brand that meets their approval.

I love these laying boxes! They are perfect and easy to clean. My chicken prefer laying in them other than anywhere else. They were easy to install.

I have 5 backyard chickens, and a couple of them decided to start eating the eggs they laid. I tried everything: different food, more calcium and threats, wood eggs, ceramic eggs. The fake eggs worked for a while, but a couple months later they started this bad habit again. I installed these inside of their coop, and now I hear less angry cackling when one of them is nesting and a new one wants to come in, as they don't see each other in these more enclosed nests, and the eggs have all lived. I installed a fake wooden egg on each nest area with a drill and a screw so it doesn't roll away, to get the chickens to start laying on this new location; it took a couple days but they all got the hint. I haven't removed this fake egg and it's been a month and a half so maybe I can, but it's working great.

The screws that came with it are to big for the hole to just slip on and off to clean. I had hoped the hens would not sleep in there but that’s what is happening So cleaning the bottom is a pain. You have to unscrew 4 screws. A sliding bottom would be much more convenient. Then I lost one of the nuts. I tried fake grass and shavings. The eggs don’t roll with those. So I just have the plastic bottom

My chickens refused to go in then until I put their bedding in, which did defeat the purpose at first. Once I put their bedding in they loved them and switched themselves to these boxes. Then I slowly removed bedding a little at a time. Only complaint would be that the lift door to to get to the eggs aren't securely attached. Had to put some fat, flat rubber bands around that section so they would stay on and the chickens wouldn't be scared to jump on them to get into the box.

The plastic inserts too large. The screws were off and couldn’t screw into the top part. The plastic was warped and for the life in me I couldn’t see the incline in which the egg would roll away! And I tried to set it up etc in different ways. Too much trouble and so not worth it!!!!
