This makes perfect rice every time. Lousy manual, no tech support. I had a problem trying to make ‘sticky/glutinous’ rice and could not get any help. After 3 tries I finally got it right. Making brow jasmine rice, several Goya rice mixes, following pkg directions, all came out perfect. In case you are not familiar with rice cookers… They all have one common characteristic that really makes them great. You put the ingredients in, press start and when done they switch to warm until you are ready to eat. There are two groups of rice cookers. The first group work by heat. When the liquid boils off they switch to warm. These work really well and are cheap. A good ‘Aroma’ brand one is only about $30. (The better of this group has a brown rice setting, best choice) One thing about this group. The bottom layer if rice tends to get browned or toasted. Many people love this part, and there is even a special name for it in Spanish, but I dont remember it. The rice is very good, and I used one of these for more than 20 years. The rice is a little drier than the next group The second group (Basically the Toshiba & Zojirushi group) are ‘ fuzzy logic’ cookers. They cook the rice by monitoring the humidity and temp of the rice. Thse make perfect, moist rice every time. Most have settings for multiple rice and grain types. They also mage good oatmeal and have timers so your cooking can start at anytime. Nice to get up to good hot oatmeal w/o cooking! The catch is that they sre more expensive. A Toshiba is about $120, the Z is about $170. If you like rice, start with a basic one that has a brown rice setting, about $30-40. If you like it, you may want to move up to one of the better ones in the second group. I always loved ruce & rice dishes. Living several years in Central and South America only reinforced that. My wife never liked rice much. When I upgraded to the Toshiba, she started liking rice. More moist, no toasted layer. Another suggestion. I virtually always make rice with chicken stick or chicken broth. Really adds a lot to it.

After years of using another brand, we decided to splurge on a Japanese-style rice cooker. The rice comes out amazing! Fluffy, doesn’t stick, and the foam that usually overruns doesn’t drip down the sides. Lots of great functions and I expect many good years of use out of it. Just know that the machine may look like it’s always on when it’s unplugged, but it just permanently shows you the time in 24hr time. It’s actually off and gets power from a small watch cell.

We really like this rice maker, we got it in like new condition for a great discount. It’s super easy to use and makes perfect rice every time. The bowl the rice pot is nonstick and so easy to clean. We haven’t used the steamer function yet but we are super happy and would recommend it to anyone looking at rice makers.

I had a small and cheap rice cooker with a decent brand for a couple of years until the scratches took it’s toll and the time has come to replace it, so i was debating on getting another cheap one or upgrading to more expensive and a well established brand (i use it atleast 3-4 days a week) but rice is rice & would it make a difference? So i took the risk to see if it makes any difference? Simple answer is oh boy it does, been using the same rice for years and i can say it taste and feel better, no more lumps of rice (it felt like steamed rice from a Chinese restaurant) now it feels more like the good rice you get at Indian restaurants (if you understand what i mean). It takes longer to cook but i guess that’s where the difference come from, the timer is great, worming is also great, i think investing in a an expensive rice cooker is worth it.

I never could’ve imagined loving a rice cooker so much! This thing cooks rice perfectly, has so many built-in modes (you can make congee!!), and just makes my day easier. It’s a little tough to clean properly, so make sure to get that top gasket.

Bought this to replace the rice makers we had that would spit water all over the counter. Since this completely seals the rice into the chamber, no longer an issue. The one issue is while It works great, it takes a long time to make rice. About 80 minutes for brown rice and not much less for white rice. This is regardless of how much rice you are making. Sometimes will not use it due to time constraints... Overall happy but wish it worked a bit faster.

We have cooked rice and steel-cut oatmeal in this cooker. It takes a full hour to cook either of these. Our prior rice cooker finished in 30 minutes without needing to presoak the rice. The keep warm feature kicks in automatically after it finishes cooking which keeps the food at a great temperature. The manual is minimal. Online videos of use and cleaning did not show how to clean the lid, but the inside of the lid also comes out to easily clean in the sink which I appreciate. As stated online, the cooking pot is not dishwasher safe like our prior cooker was so I hand wash it in the sink along with the other parts.
