When taking the crumb tray out the angle is steep, causing the waste to fall back off the tray and touch the heating element.

Slowest toast I’ve ever made. 4+ minutes just to warm it up, then another to make it medium dark. In addition, the crumb tray is made of aluminum -- a terrible idea, because as will inevitably happen, there will be leaks that burn onto the crumb tray, making it ugly even after scouring. And don't think you can prevent the problem by covering the tray with foil -- the instructions explicitly say not to do that, because it will overheat the unit. Now why do you suppose they had to say that? It's because people found that the crumb tray doesn't clean up well since it's made of the wrong metal! ... show more
