I had intended to purchase a roll of LED lights to do a 'custom' lighting job on my gun safe. It's a large 6'x4'x3' safe, and I was worried I wouldn't have enough lighting with this kit. I was wrong. After adding up all the items I'd need to install the 'tape' type LED lights, I found that this kit was much cheaper and easier to install, and provides more than enough light. I received the kit on time and in good shape. I guess I expected a big box, but the whole kit comes in a box about 2"x2"x14" or so. I opened it up and found exactly what is in the advertised picture. 6 light strips, 5 extension cables, a power supply and the all-important motion sensor. Cables are well insulated, and everything seems to be 'injection molded' and pretty well sealed. After determining how I wanted to place the light bars inside the front section of the safe, I put everything together, plugged it in, and hung it by sticking push pins into the holes in the ends of the light strips. This was just to do a mock-up test, to see if I liked the light placement. I put one strip at the top and bottom of the safe, and two on each of the sides. With that, I ended up using only three of the five extension cables. But after I pushed the pins into the interior drywall material, it appeared so solidly hung, I never bothered to peel the tape off of the lights. Everything stays just fine because the light bars are so light. BTW, the 3M tape is on two sides of the light bars, and runs the full length. Its on a 45 degree angle to the light strips, so that two sides can be peeled and stuck into a corner. There are also holes at both ends of each light strip, so you can screw them down if you want (or use push pins, like I did). As far as the lighting goes, it's crazy bright. The light itself is very... 'white', meaning there is very little 'yellow' tinge to it. The box says "Daylight 5000k" for the color. I would imagine that if you tried to put these lights in the back of the safe, or in a place where they would be seen directly, they would be annoyingly bright. But putting in the front section of a safe is perfect, flooding it with light. The box also gives the following information: Brightness is 150lm/bar, 900 lumins in total. Lifespan 30,000 hours, beam angle 120 degrees, LED density is 18 LEDs per bar, CRI>80, size 11.81x0.59.0.39 inch/bar. Sensitivity distance 0-26 ft, Sensing angle is 120 degrees, input voltage 100-240V, output voltage is 12V, and the Delay Time is 4 minutes after no motion is detected. 3 year warranty. I was initially going to put the sensor on the back wall of the safe, but found there would not be enough cable in that configuration. Instead, I put the sensor on the floor of the safe, and it works great. It turns on within about a second, and in fact I was worried that it wasn't shutting off, but I left the door open and indeed it went off after 4 minutes. Before the door is fully open, the lights are on. I may have been equally impressed with the finished product had I used the LED lighting on the tape that comes in rolls, but you just can't beat how fast and simple this installation was. Literally, unboxing to mock-up was under 5 minutes. I had everything installed in under 15, and I didn't have to cut or screw anything like I would have with the roll of LED tape. Installation can NOT be screwed up. There are 'male' and 'female' ends to every component and cord, and there's no way to screw up. Unlike the LED tape type, everything can only go together one way, which is great. You can connect the five 'extension cords' however you like, or not use them at all. If you want to extend something, just unplug that section, and stick in one or more of the extension cords. Male to female, that's as hard as it gets. The only 'down-side' is that some people may want the ability to switch colors, which this doesn't do. Personally, I wanted white only, no remote to mess with, automatic on/off, and simple install, so this is perfect for me.

I have these in all three safes as well as every closet in the house. The low voltage / no heat nature of the lights along with the motion sensor to turn them on make them ideal closet lighting. These kits are as close to perfect as I could imagine. Easy to install, inexpensive, reliable, low voltage, and no fire hazard from light bulb heat. What's not to love?

Installed rather straightforward. If you have some common sense it's rather simple figuring it out. Instructions are very minimal. But It works Negatives: 1) my shelves are exactly the width of the light strips. The only screw points are on the end of the strips. So my attachment points/screw holes sit in the gap between the shelf and the vertical supports/shelf clips. So I'm going to need to find some other way to attach it. The lights are quarter rd not flat. With the two outer edges of the light having peel and stick tape. As my shelves are carpeted the peel and stick tape is not helpful. The tape is also visible. Since you have one edge exposed. Wish they would provide the tape (or better yet velcro), but you add it yourself if you desire it rather than have it preinstalled. 2) the motion sensor works. But not immediately. It may be where I located it in my safe. But it doesn't really state where the sensor has the greatest sensitivity wise. Vertical, horizontal, straight on etc. May play around with it. When I work out exactly how I want things laid out 3)cable management. You are on your own. I like things clean, tidy and out of the way. It's up to you to source cable clips etc, deal with extra cable. Wish you could trim to fit and reinstall connectors. May end up doing plastic cable mold. 4) provided screws. Tried using them. Found them very difficult to start in carpet wrapped plywood. They are tiny. Like #4×3/4" with a #1 Phillips head and non magnetic. Found them very difficult to use with a #2 bit and drill. They would constantly misalign and fall when I tried to start them in my vertical support. Upgraded to #6×3/4 with #2 head. I was pleasantly surprised with this kit. For the money anyways. These flaws in my mind should be expected. The leds are bright. It works. Not a lot to figure out installation wise. I personally read reviews to source flaws so I know what to expect, so these are flaws I have discovered. I would recommend this kit with the flaws stated.

Love these lights the cord length is ideal for a large gun safe allowing enough room to place where needed. I like the way it includes little velcro strips to mount lights in corners around the inside of the door of the safe. the brightness of the lights allows me to see the whole interior of the safe clearly the color of the lights is a bright white which allows you to see things inside like natural light. I have a set of these in another safe for a few years so durability and versatility I can vouch for over time. This is a great product i bighly recommend.

I've had this light set in my safe for a little over 6 months now. It lights up a 23 cubic foot safe (60 inches tall x 40 inches wide). So far, I haven't had any individual LEDs die on me. I have the set sitting in 2 columns of 3 bars along the vertical inside corners. The build quality is okay, I notice that the connections can be a little finicky. If you move the wires just so, a bar can wink out. But once it's set, you wouldn't ever move it. The adhesive on the LED bars will only hold to solid surfaces. That is, if you are using it as under cabinet lighting, it will probably do. But inside a felt-lined safe, there's no way it would stick. So I took some Velcro strips and stuck it to the factory adhesive and that's held up in my safe through a cold Winter and a few hot Spring days. I used the spare Velcro strips to hold the loose wires in place. Overall, the light output is very bright. It illuminates every nook & cranny of my safe. If I open it in the dark, it's darn near blinding. The extension cables that come with it are very handy and will probably give most folks enough configuration options to cover the majority of safe sizes. You will need some kind of electrical pass-through, however. For the price, I'd say the value is about 3.5 stars. It should be about ten bucks cheaper. But I'm giving this a 5-star review due to Torchstar's support. When I got the set, I hooked everything up, plugged it in and then covered the motion detector with several fleece blankets to test its function. After a few power cycles, I realized that I had a bad motion detector in that the lights never shut off. I contacted Torchstar through their website and they sent me a new motion detector. The replacement has functioned flawlessly over the past 6+ months. I open my safe 3-4 times per week and it hasn't failed me yet. If I could pick one area to improve on the design, it would be to have the AC/DC transformer wired in-line with the power cable rather than as a "wall wart." Since safe configurations vary wildly by manufacturer, having a regular AC plug run to a separate DC transformer box would add even more flexibility and minimize the possibility of blocking a neighboring plug (for safes like mine with multiple power outlets).
