I have two cats I plan to fly with soon to move across country. So I bought this one and another that's similar. Side by side they are nearly identical in size, but this one has higher expansion on top and two expansions on the side, versus just one side expansion on the other. The material is a little thinner than the other, but not by much. I've been taking them on car rides to get them ready, one kitty travels really well, the other not so much. Uggh. PROS: - Zippers have clip locking latches to keep from being pulled apart. - More expansion than others. Top expansion is great, just pull it up for extra headroom. - Has black out flaps that roll down to cover the outside of the walls and velcro to the bottom to keep them in place, helping to desensitize your kitties from everything going on, still offering plenty of ventilation. - Removable hard bottom insert with zippered soft cloth cover for easy washing. Also easy to wrap with wee pads just incase. - Pocket to tuck in some supplies, like toys, wipes or treats etc. - Removable shoulder strap, soft top carry handle. CONS: - No petting holes or grating. I wish there was a some kind of more open grating or holes to stick your fingers through, like with hard carriers. When traveling I often pet my cats with my finger through the carrier front gate, it always seems to calm them. Just finished the flight – All in all this carrier worked really well for my larger sized Bengal cat. 1 hour in car, 1 hour at airport, 5 hour flight, 1 hour in car. Although she usually cries the entire time during transport she quieted down well, the car seems to bother her the most. I put the side blackout flaps down and covered the top with her favorite blanket. I made sure she could see me and opened the top just enough to put my hand inside and pet her when she seemed nervous or started to cry. Worked like a charm. No meds, not recommended by airlines and many vets. She never tried to escape and I just pet her from time to time in the car, during flight and in the airports. The carrier held up well, and when I wasn't petting her I closed the hatches and used the locking zipper clips just incase. Glad we got through it.

The James Bond of animal carriers

Love this product definitely need to train your dog or cat to love it before you leave for the first time because I would think that they would feel trapped if they had to stay in it or any of them doesn’t matter which one they are. My dog is a service dog so it was allowed to come out but for long periods of time I don’t think any dog wants to be trapped in a box. I did love this one, especially because it had so many options of opening different compartments so it kind of kept the dog busy by playing a game like which compartment is gonna open next, but I got stuck in the airport with the dog and this was a lifesaver by being able to put her in here to sleep and shut all the doors and they have a zip area with flaps so you can completely darken the area or open it, which isn’t really nice. I like the fact that it has almost like an apartment like feel because some of the doors or windows will extend out so if someone says you must contain your dog, you could put them in there and then have it you know zip it out so it is stretched out all the way so that they feel like they’re not so trapped love this 100% perfect size to squish underneath the seat in the economy seats. But absolutely perfect with extra room to spare in the extra legroom seats on the airplane. The quality is great never had a problem with a zipper the whole time even when I was trapped in the airport for hours and hours and hours it stores away perfectly in the upper part of my closet when not in use easy to clean afterwards has a nice cushiony Sherpa insert that you can take out and wash or spot clean I just spot cleaned it. I was afraid of it getting ruined. I would give this absolutely 10 out of five stars it save the day my first day traveling with my eight month old puppy.

Good durable carriers

Purchased two of these for my cats first trip on a plane. It does appear small however once it expands the cats were able to stretch out. One held my 20 lb kitty a tight fit until I expanded it. He didn't complain. The other held my 13lb kitty. She was fussy on the flight occassionally really trying to break out of it but it held her in. She would then relax and stretch out. I loved being able to open this in the airport while waiting to board and opening it up on the plane after take off. The kitties were able to settle in and sleep. Good carries for traveling. A nice little side pocket where I could store their harnesses. Great product for the price. Durable at one point my 20 lb kitties carrier was stuck on a hook in a hotel mobile cart and it actually held him. At least log enough for me to realize the suit case he was on had fallen off. I would definitely recomend this product especially for traveling with your furry friends.

Kittens love it and both like to hang out in there. We have a backpack carrier, but bought this one as a second. My husband always travels with a work backpack, so this will will allow him to carry the kittens with the handles or shoulder strap. We have Ragdolls kittens , so we will see if they will grow out of it. I love that it expands top and 2 sides. Once you put the bottom in, it is sturdy enough for my 6lb kitten to sit on top of it without collapsing. 1st trip using will be to get neutered, but plan to travel across country with them soon. I will get back here to update if these is a problem. Otherwise, kitten approved, so far…..

Cross country move with 2 cats

I purchased 2 of these for a cross country move with my 2 cats (9 lbs and 15 lbs) and they worked great. I was reading a lot of reviews in preparation because I knew I wanted a carrier that could expand for my larger cat. The top especially being able to open up made him much more comfortable when waiting at the gate and going through security. There is a small zipper pouch on the part that fits over the suitcases handles where I had room for their folded rabies certificate and a couple churus. Very happy with my purchase.

Size is great for my 4 year old Shih Tzu. We took a 7 hour flight and he was comfy and the carrier fit under a standard Alaska seat. The reason for one star: After the first zip, the zipper fobs ALL came off. Yes — the FIRST zip. Secondly, the expander zipper broke — making it impossible to retract the side compartment. We had to physically hold it together for the boarding of our return flight. Totally defective and complete waste of money.
