  • Ridiculously and funny large but exactly what I needed – excellent quality and practical packaging
Size: 1/4" - 2-1/2"
This toolant Large Diameter Step Drill Bit (1/4"–2-1/2", TiAlN, M35 Cobalt HSS, 1/2" shank) is genuinely oversized and almost comically big when you first pull it out of the package, but it was precisely the size I needed for my project. The quality is outstanding — the M35 cobalt steel with TiAlN coating feels premium, the four spiral flutes cut cleanly, and the overall machining and finish are excellent. It performs very well on metal and sheet materials as intended. When I tested it in thicker wood (not its primary purpose), it still cut effectively, but you will want a drill with solid torque and control because of the large diameter and the amount of material being removed. Once you have the right power tool behind it, the bit handles the job smoothly. The packaging is also practical and protective, which is appreciated for a tool of this size and value. Overall, this is a high-quality, specialized bit that does exactly what it claims. I’m glad I bought it and would recommend it to anyone who specifically needs a large-diameter step drill of this caliber. ... show more

  • Toughest unibit I've ever used, update 8 months later
Size: 1/8" - 1/2"
I am in the automotive electronics industry. I have used different types and brands of step bits for the last 20 years. Most of them turn to garbage after drilling through semi thick metal once or twice. And it ruins the tip. I have only used this new one on types of plastic and twice on sheet metal in the body of a vehicle. So far this bit works better than any I have ever used. It is so sharp you must be careful using it on plastic because it will cut a hole bigger than you want very quickly if you're not careful. I hope I have success in keeping it sharp using it on metal. Here's update on review. I have now used this bit drilling through multiple metal panels on automobiles. I have not had one issue with this product darling or causing me any problems. I don't know how it will do drilling through 8 inch solid steel but through body panels and floor panels on cars it does exceptionally well. . Here's an update from the middle of July 2023. This bit is really rugged. It will drill through 8 inch to quarter inch solid steel on a truck steak bed. I drilled the pilot hole with an 8 inch bit and used it to make the hole up to a 3/8. This bit is extremely Sharp and extremely brittle. I advise spraying silicone on it and keep your drill moving slowly watching it peel the metal. When you're going to that slow speed with this bit it works wonders. It's amazing. But I usually use it for thin metal in vehicles and it has no problem whatsoever. It gets seven Stars as far as I'm concerned. But be careful it is brutal when you are drilling big holes it can hang up and snap. ... show more

  • Absolutely best bits I own
Size: 1/8" - 7/8" (3pcs Set)
These relatively inexpensive bits outperform very high dollar carbide machinist bits, and other much more expensive cobalt bits. The cut so fast that the material barely has any chance to get hot which makes them last forever. I've been using them not for several months and I am very sincerely impressed. It's really hard to trust sellers these days. I think I paid 60 bucks to try them in my body shop just as a chance they might work on the lighter sheet metal and they performed so well and lasted so long I have started using them in my machine shop. They are suitable for cutting harder than mild steel, alloys and stainless with no issue whatsoever. I cannot speak highly enough of how surprised and utterly impressed I am with the performance. The most surprising part is the cost! They are the cheapest bits I own and they are also the best drill bits I own! I'm putting together a list to start replacing my professional machinist quality drill bits with these as they go bad and dull. They cost less than sharpening my bits and I have yet to dull any of these as of yet. Very surprised, impressed, and happy with them! I wish more things were like this. I'm happy I took a chance and bought these taking a low risk chance that had really taught me a wonderful lesson. ... show more

  • Pretty good with a caveat
Size: 1/8" - 7/8" (3pcs Set)
Purchased 3 years ago, the unibits I have owned. Aggressive and maintain sharpness except for the pilot tip that dulls quickly. I work around this by predrilling a small hole with a regular drill bit first. Note I recently broke one where the shaft gave up on a non-impact drill A 1/2" shaft would be better, makes me wonder how these are "impact rated". I will be replacing the broken one with the same brand. ... show more

  • Perfect - I needed a 2 1/8" hold enlarged to a 2 1/2" hole - worth every penny
Size: 1/4" - 2-1/2"
I have not needed to use a step drill before, but I cound myslef needing a larger hold for an rv trailer jack, and was contemplating fabricating something to enable me to enlarge the hole. This unit popped up in a general search, and wow was I happy to find out t was large enough for my need. It was ~65 usd, and it was worth every penny. It is well made, and did exactly what was needed. No drama, fighting, surprised - just a larger hole in about 20 seconds - going slow so as to not mess up the hole. Super happy ... show more

  • Better to find an alternative
Size: 1/8" - 1/2"
I have 1/8" 304 Stainless bar I needed to drill through and this thing barely made a dent, even though it's promoted for that use. Used Tap Magic ProTap Cutting Fluid and low speed on my drill. Picked up another, more affordable option and it did the trick. Pretty disappointed with this one.

  • Excellent Quality!
Size: 1/4" - 3/4"
Excellent Quality! Way better than the so-called titanium coated ones from H-Freight. Cut through metal with ease.

  • Perfect
Size: 1/4" - 2-1/2"
I was installing a smart lock on a business door and the hole for the deadbolt was not large enough. The door was steel and wood. I did not need to go all the way through, just enlarge the outside to 2 1/8. This drill bit was perfect for the job.
