I purchased these bits from the warehouse at roughly half the price of new, described as very good condition. Upon receiving them I immediately noticed the 5/8 bit was missing the pilot pin and had some discoloring and felt noticeably less sharp than the other bits. I can only assume the original purchaser had a project, failed to use sufficient coolant and returned the bits. The 9/16 bit had some residual “project metal” on it but appeared to be in good health as did the remainder of the set. I will keep this set and run it as is but just be prepared for a surprise when purchasing “amazon warehouse” deals. ... show more

Comparison to HSS Slugger Cutter Set 1": Evolution had plastic box, intact, easy to open. HHS had strong metal box, but very hard to open. Evolution had 6 centering pins, one for each bit while HHS had only one pin for all six bits. Both had scattered porosity in the metal. Evolution set had two defects in the undercut gullet area, one hole over 1 mm diameter in the 9/16". HHS set had no major defects in the gullets. Evolution bits were longer with deeper gullets = deeper holes, more chip clearance, better coolant access. Evolution set was much less expensive. Tried to get exchange for 9/16" bit with large hole in gullet, but Evolution rep said, "No, if you don't like any part of the set, ask Amazon for refund, but no bit exchange when new and no refund nor exchange if used." Amazon ad says,"Guaranteed not to break." So you cannot exchange a defective bit, and you cannot exchange a used bit...?" Got the Amazon refund, but lost about $30 in shipping. The replacement HHS set was much more expensive and with the shipping, I could have just bought a new bit locally to replace the defective Evolution 9/16" bit. So one might beforehand figure out the shipping and local replacement cost and flip a coin. ... show more

Purchased these to go with the evolution mag drill to drill holes. These annular cutters are very good quality and cut very fast. I use these to do side fab and welding on customers properties. Highly recommended product.
