Worked great for what I needed. Price is super low compared to big box stores so I was a little worried it would not cut thru the metal. I used it to cut a hole in my metal mower to be able to add transmission oil on my zero turn mower that has a transmission that is non-serviceable. Cut right thru no problem. Was able to add the oil and mower works great again. I only needed it for this one job and it worked great. Seems durable, was easy to use just as other drill bits are. I'm sure it would've probably been cheaper to go to a local hardware store, but I don't have a lot of free time after work and the convenience is worth the cost for me. For my use, it did what I wanted to do, drilled some big holes, in some small steel pipes. I can't speak on the long-term durability but I don't expect it to be too crazy, considering I only used it to expand 2 holes and it's already lost a lot of its coating. For its size, it's pretty heavy and the material feels extremely solid though. Came well packed, looks good, compatible with my little drill. No complaints! ... show more

perfectly shaped holes in sheet metal or plasic... any size
I'm now a huge fan of Step Drill Bits! They are awesome. I've used standard drill bits all my life (hardened steel, titanium, or cobalt), but it wasn't until recently that I tried the step drill bits. They are great for drilling through sheet metal or even plastic. I had to drill a large hole to put a gas pedal link rod through with a rubber grommet and it needed to be 1-3/8 inches. I was trying to figure out how to drill it with standard bits and stumbled on this and I gave it a shot. It worked so well that I have bought other sets for smaller holes and they all work great. I also used one for drilling a hole in a plastic battery box to run some heavy guage wire through it and it cut through the plastic like butter and the hole was perfectly shaped. The same went for the 18 guage sheet metal that I was working with. Highly recommend. ... show more

Works well if used as intended
It does well for plastic and thin metal etc. I needed to get a larger hole into a heavy duty plastic box and it worked well Saved me from filing and grinding a nice round hole. I hoped it would do a heavier sheet metal after starting the hole with steel bits but it is not meant for it.

It works, but...
I bought it to drill through some 1/8" sheet metal. It took longer than it should have but it got the job done. But I don't think it's be useful again it looks like it's dull already. Good thing it was only 10 bucks..
