Need to drill some holes in a steel rack unit 1U blank. This worked, albeit slowly. Bit jumped a bit before I drilled so it is slightly off. I suspect that is what the punch is for but I was lazy. I would not call the case “rugged” at all, but it is cute enough for good storage.

I bought this for basic EV plug installations. I just needed an affordable step bit to just be able to make a legitimate hole inside an electrical panel or tesla wall connector housing. I use this with a milwaukee fuel hammer drill and I have zero issues. Keep in mind if you put too much stress on the step bit, the chuck may not unwind. I owned and operated a developmental machine shop for 30 years, working mostly with exotic alloys, but for some reason never tried a step-drill. Finally, I had a small job at home that required putting a couple of holes in sheet metal in an awkward location and decided to give these a try. I was skeptical of the quality at this price. Fortunately, the drill size I needed to use worked beautifully. I ended up with a couple of nice clean holes. Drilling 2 holes didn't seem to affect the step-drill in any way, but I can't suggest how these bits would hold up under sustained use or with exotic alloys. As with any drill bit, some cutting oil will diminish the heat build-up at the cutting edge and extend the life of the tool. I only needed the one size of bit, so the extra were a bonus. I've bought the expensive uni-bits way too many times. They wear out so fast and for the price they are not worth it .but these right here last so long and you get a variety of sizes for less than half the cost of the expensive ones

I needed to enlarge eight 1/2" holes to 3/4", in some mild steel square tubing. By working slowly, and using plenty of cutting oil, this bit did the job. The bit had some damage, but not too bad.
