  • Dark, Twisted, and Impossible to Put Down
Format: Paperback
This book grabbed me from the very first chapter and refused to let go. Too Late: Definitive Edition is intense, unsettling, and completely addictive. Colleen Hoover does an incredible job of creating characters who are so layered that you’re never entirely sure who to trust—or if you should trust anyone at all. Sloan’s story is raw and emotional, filled with impossible choices and dangerous situations that had my heart racing. Asa is one of the most complex villains I’ve ever read—equal parts terrifying and magnetic—and the tension between Sloan, Asa, and Carter is just relentless. I loved that this edition felt more polished and cohesive; the pacing kept me hooked the whole way through. It’s definitely not a lighthearted romance—there are dark themes and some very uncomfortable moments—but that’s what made it so compelling. If you’re looking for a psychological romance-thriller that keeps you guessing and pulls you deep into a morally gray world, this is absolutely worth the read. ... show more

  • Top author at the moment!! *NO spoilers*
Format: Paperback
I saw a recommendation of this book on a group I joined not too long ago. I had read Verity by Colleen Hoover and adored her writing style. After reading what this book entailed, I was immediately intrigued and ordered it for rush shipping lol. It is one of the longest books I read this year (almost 400 pages) and also the fastest one I read!!! I read this in 2 days and basically finished 50% of the book in the first sitting/reading it. It definitely surrounds dark topics and does have a warning at the beginning of the book that entails the trigger warnings. I absolutely loved this book, even more than I did Verity honestly. The storyline was quick and you get an understanding of each main character and their perspective, which really adds to the emotions you feel and how you react to every event. This isn’t a book where you have to solve or figure out a mystery, which is something I don’t read often, but this book made you FEEL and I loved it. It made you uncomfortable, angry, nervous, happy, sad. It just kept you on your toes and had a plot you couldn’t figure out before the book ended. I despise when I can tell an ending before I get there, but this book just keeps you interested because there is so ending to solve, it just moves you in my opinion. This is definitely at the top of my list for books I have read this year and recommend to anyone who is looking for a dark book to read. ... show more

TW: rape, abuse, psychotic/mental disorders I loved the plot, I thought it was perfect. Undercover cops pose as drug dealing college students. Think 21 jump street. This could’ve been a 4 but all the extra chapters at the end in my personal opinion was unwarranted. I wish the prologue was actually placed before the story started instead of at the end. Also the epilogue before the epilogue? Really? Can I just get it all in one?! It dragged on a little bit too much towards the end. I’m thinking “alright get it over with already” all in all it was a pretty good read. Oh and pretty dark and explicit throughout the book. I enjoyed how each chapter was a different characters POV it’s one of my favorite things in a book. My heart went out to Sloan that poor girl went through it. Of course Luke is the too good to be true perfect man but I actually like Ryan more… and nasty ol Asa… smh. His character disgusted me from the minute he was introduced. This guy was a delusional, sick, narcissistic womanizer! He was completely awful. Both Asa and Sloan grew up with a very rough childhood where they basically raised themselves and dealt with drug addictive parents. They clearly went down two totally different paths but somehow ended up with each other. They were complete opposites and it was perfect in the beginning; at least that’s what Sloan thought. How would she even know though she never even held hands with a guy. This very good looking guy whom everyone’s got the hots for had eyes for her; the girl that didn’t even have $3 to her name! Asa thought Sloan being so pure and innocent was quite sexy. He was the only one she’s had and he’ll be the only one…ever. But Asa is apart of something Sloan absolutely despises and his possessive and controlling ways are bringing her to a breaking point. She doesn’t how much more she can take but she’s gotta stay because the one person in the entire world who has heart needs her to. ... show more
