Description

From the number one New York Times bestselling coauthor of Judge & Jury and Lifeguard comes this electrifying solo debut, The Blue Zone. Kate Raab's life seems almost perfect: her boyfriend, her job, her family . . . until her father runs into trouble with the law. His only recourse is to testify against his former accomplices in exchange for his family's placement in the Witness Protection Program. But one of them gets cold feet. In a flash, everything Kate can count on is gone. Now, a year later, her worst fears have happened: Her father has disappeared—into what the WITSEC agency calls "the blue zone"—and someone close to him is found brutally murdered. With her family under surveillance, the FBI untrustworthy, and her father's menacing "friends" circling with increasing intensity, Kate sets off to find her father—and uncover the secrets someone will kill to keep buried. • Great Book
Well written story that keeps your wanting to continue reading.

  • Who Can You Trust?
Who can you trust - your family, friends, the law enforcement people? You can never know according to the plot reverses and misleads in this book. If you, or a member of your family has a need to be included in the Federal Witness Protection Program, your life and that of your family and community will change startlingly. It is assumed that this inclusion is for a very good reason. Your name will change. Your address (both location and e-mail) will change. The life that you are pursuing will change. If you have a pending award for some achievement in sports, scholastic, professional or activity, you can forget about that. You cannot call your friends, or e-mail them. In short, you are no longer you. That is also true for all of the members of your family. That happens to the family in this book because one member chose (or was strenuously convinced) to testify in court against some very bad people. With those comments, I will go no further in describing the plot. This is a real page-turner (no, that is not an original phrase of mine, but thanks for asking) which I would recommend that you refrain from starting prior to bedtime. It would work out nicely on a long airplane trip. ... show more

  • REALLY GOOD STORY OF BETRAYAL AND REVENGE
I read this book in one day, it's just that good. The author knows how to draw you in and keep you guessing. Fast paced, tense with a lot of secrets that keep unfolding. Made you want to question who to believe and who to trust. Well written and really interesting.

  • Gross is in his zone again . . .
Great, fast-paced thriller. The characters, however, are rather hard to get attached to. I kept thinking, "Oh, if I just read a little further, I'll learn to love this character . . ." but it never happens, not even with the main two characters, namely the father and his oldest daughter. It's a story about ill-gotten gain, and the heartache of a family broken by a father's greed and murderous revenge. The backdrop involves a drug cartel and the unfortunate ineptitude of the FBI. I was expecting more details about the Witness Protection program, but that was treated very lightly, offering no particular insight into this famous program. There were some missed opportunities to make the story more compelling, but overall, it's a page-turner well worth the read. Another good one from Andrew Gross. ... show more

  • Love Andrew Gross, Love The Book
I recently found this author and absolutely loved his style. I'm reading all his books starting with the most recent and working backwards. The Blue Zone is 4 or 5 years old (and a great value on Kindle). Found this book to be exciting, fast paced, hard to put down and easy to read. There are more twists and turns to this story than Lombard Street. I am retired and find myself reading 2 sometimes 3 books a week and find myself not reviewing many books. Had to make an exception with this book. Absolutely a "don't miss" thriller with a unexpected ending. ... show more

  • Entertaining
The story follows a rather predictable formula, but that doesn't detract from its entertainment value. Written for entertainment and not depth, the Blue Zone is a good mystery-thriller - not unlike other books by Andrew Gross. Enjoyable, accessible and engaging. Worth a few kindle dollars.

  • Great book! Andrew Gross is superb.
Great book. Almost finished with it after just getting it a few days ago. I really like Andrew Gross as an author; he is easy to read and all of his stories flow very well which keeps me interested. I don't buy book to read for pleasure that makes me feel like I'm studying in college all over again. I will continue to buy Gross' books as I have several already. ... show more

  • Recommending This to My Wife and Father
I'm not sure what possessed me to buy this book, but I am glad that I did. This doesn't fit into most of my usual genre's of books, but I really enjoyed it. I am actually going to recommend this to my father (an avid reader) and my fiance. This story had a great lead female role who was believable in every way. I even found myself laughing out loud at some of the things she said because they were so true, and in other cases I kept nudging my fiance and saying "Look he's writing about you!" An incredibly gripping story! I recommend it ... show more
