All you need to do is download and install the app. Attach your lens to the console and check whether there is a new firmware release. Make sure that you check the site to verify that your lens is on the list of supported lenses. One of my older lenses was not supported. I bought a used Tamron 15-30 f2.8 G2. Used this to update the firmware but the lens already had the latest firmware. I was going to also use it for the Tamron 150-600 G2 but cancelled that lens order due to reported focusing issues with Canon mirrorless. The associated software looks interesting but according to many, the customizations do not apply to mirrorless camera bodies. The lens compatibility list for this device is very short. Check the Tamron website for the full list. I've used it once and I don't anticipate ever using it again. Keep in mind Tamron has discounted several lenses. Who knows if they will create new firmware for discontinued lenses. Subtracted a star for this potentially obsolete product. ... show more

Bought this to update and modify my Tamron 24-70mm (latest version). I’m quite computer savvy, but this did not work. My PC shows the device is connected, but the software refuses to see the lense is attached. Googling for help revealed I am far from the only person who has had issues, so I think Tamron has produced a faulty product. ... show more

    • Useless after one use, you spend $55 for one use.

If you’re on mirrorless, please avoid buying Tamron lenses. You’ll need to update them more than likely, and you have to buy a $55 adapter to do that, which you’ll only ever use once more than likely. That’s ridiculous. Spend the extra money and get some real reliability. Even after updating my Tamron lenses I still get the error on R5 and R about connectivity, they explicitly state on the website that it’s supposed to fix that problem. ... show more
