First of all, I did not order this to be used as a truck bed cover hold down as intended by the manufacture. I wanted it to use as a way to hold the rear end or a guide fence for my band saw. I have an old bandsaw that has a fence that has about an 1/8th" of play at the back and I was getting bad cuts with it when I would use the fence. Since I am a DIY guy and always re purposing items on Amazon, I thought I would give it a try. This actually worked surprisingly well. I did have to drill into the old fence, but that's alright if it gets the result I was after. And it did. The semi cam action on these clamps now makes my fence hold in place at the back and I no longer get cuts that are wider towards the ends. I did not use all the parts so I still have more left over for other shop jigs that can use this sort of clamping action. The pieces appear to be made of a reenforced nylon/plastic material and holds its strength very well. FYI I recently bought a soft cover for my Ford Ranger and was going to add one more clamp either side using these hold down clamps, but there was no way to make them fit as they came out of the box and would require a lot of modifications. I am not sure if it is just the brand cover that I bought was not compatible or these clamps need to be for a specific type of bed cover. So if you are considering these bed cover hold down clamps take a good look at the design and see if they will work for you. Otherwise add them to your jig making collection if you are a DIYer like me.... ... show more
