This is a really great little scooter for young kids. I like the fact that it folds very compactly so that you can carry it around to the park or wherever else you may be going. It's really design wealth to be considerate of all the needs of younger kids. There's a pretty large footboard at the bottom and the fact that there are two front wheels. Makes it much easier for younger kids to be able to navigate without falling. I really like how easy it is to also adjust the height of the handle for different age kids. The overall operation of the scooter is fairly simple, having light up wheels is a nice bonus. It's not super sturdy, but it feels solidly constructed enough that it should fall apart anytime soon. I got this for my soon to be 3 yr old. Our neighbor had a scooter simular to this but without the lighted wheels and my daughter loved it. This one is a much better quality. The wheels are what you would see on Rollerblades. These are solid wheels that light as the wheels rotate. My daughter was able to scoot along slowly and was able to keep her balance. I like that you have to lean into your turns which makes it a bit easier (balance wise) for beginners. Of course use protective gear with this. I would recommend. ... show more

I'm not really sure what the 2 age ranges mentioned are supposed to represent (kids 3-5 and kids 8-12), but this works well for my kids. It is easy enough to ride on, hold the handle, and turn by leaning. It does take some getting used to leaning to turn rather than turning the actual handle, but it is pretty easy to master. The wheels are nice and substantial and go over outside hard terrain well (not grass). The scooter foot pad is a nice size, large enough that the kids don't have to have a ton of dexterity to place their foot, and large enough to place two small feet, but small enough not to be bulky and get in the way or take up extra space when storing. This was really easy to use right out of the box. All I had to do was follow the note on the handle arm that stated how to unfold it. Then I figured out how to raise the handlebar very quickly. The lighted wheels feature is cool, and my kids really like that. I also like the rear brake feature, by pushing down on the wheel cover. My kids haven't mastered that yet, but I'm sure it will be useful in time. The black and yellow also looks cool. I purchased this for my 5 year old grandson who has mastered riding his little bike and is up for this challenge. It came assembled right out of the box, very sturdy and love the tilt steering wheel as he learns how to balance. Very easy to fold and store when not in use.
