These hooks help me lift heavier dumbbells than I can otherwise just push from my chest. Losing one of my rotator cuff tendons, it was impossible to advance weight training since one shoulder could not lift the higher weights. Since muscle development really happens on the eccentric portion of the lift (slow down stroke), and not the lifting cycle, these helped me get the higher weights up high enough to complete my training sets.

Christmas gift for my hubby. He loves gym equipment so after going in his phone, (yes we have each other's password) and scrolling through his cart for Christmas gift ideas, this was one of the gifts I chose. He said, this is supposed to make his workout safe but it actually made it a bit more difficult. When he does burnout, he has to push the last one over the hooks which are a bit high. Not that great of a spotter for burnouts but he likes it.

My brother bought the name brand of this for $80 a few months before I bought this one. We compared this to his and it is almost identical for less than a 3rd the price. Seems just as well made. Buy this and save money. It's just as good.
