  • TEKGINE Tire Inflator: Small, Portable, and Battery/12V Cigarette Lighter Powered
In the interest of full disclosure, I was compensated for the price of the TEKGINE Tire Inflator. The opinions expressed in this review are accurate and have not been influenced by that fact. I previous purchased the RYSEAB Tire Inflator, which is made by the same parent company and is similar to the TEKGINE inflator. The reasons I purchased the RYSEAB inflator then would be much for the same reasons that I would purchase the TEKGINE inflator now. The main motivation for purchasing a new tire inflator was to divorce myself from a large old AC corded tire inflator. While the old corded tire inflator was still functional, it was always a bother to have to be near an AC outlet in order to check/fill the tire pressure on my cars, and the old inflator needed an extension cord in order to reach all the car tires. So not only did I want to lose the need for AC power and extension cords, I also wanted something portable and lighter to carry in my car since I did not have a way to inflate tires if I was on the road. Now that Li-ion power banks are readily available for charging mobile phones and other electronic devices, it made sense to search for a tire inflator that uses the same technology. I considered other portable tire inflators and settled on RYSEAB/TEKGINE because of the small physical size and weight, decent battery capacity, and quick inflation times. Since I wanted to store the unit in my car, I decided against inflators that resemble portable drills due to their size and weight, which can also include multiple rechargeable batteries further adding to the size and weight. Both the RYSEAB and TEKGINE tire inflators resemble Li-ion power banks, with the TEKGINE inflator being just slightly wider than the RYSEAB. The RYSEAB inflator weighs about 18 oz. (515 gm) and the TEKGINE weighs about 20 oz. (557 gm), so both units are fairly light. Both inflators have a battery capacity, 6000 mAh, so each inflator easily refilled the eight tires on my two cars, topping off each tire by 2-3 psi while still having the battery indicator showing 50%. The tires filled quickly, as advertised, and the inflators have an auto shutoff once the desired pressure is achieved. Note that both inflators do not have a deflation function (i.e. if the tire pressure is greater than the desired pressure, the units will not reduce the pressure). At first, I thought that the included inflator cord (the "orange" cord) that connects the inflator to the tire was too short. However, I hold the inflator in my hand while using the unit to inflate tires, so the length of the cord is not an issue. One request for a future enhancement is to use a rotating nut where the cord attaches to the inflator so that the entire cord does not rotate when attaching to the inflator. The TEKGINE inflator adds new features not found on the RYSEAB. The TEKGINE inflator comes in a hard case, with room for the inflator on one side and the accessories on the other. The RYSEAB inflator comes with a cloth bag, so the TEKGINE inflator is better protected and the hard case is a welcome upgrade. The other new TEKGINE inflator features that I find the most useful are being able to power the inflator from a car's 12V cigarette lighter, a fluorescent lamp on the side of the unit, and the orange function buttons. Also added was a USB-A power port to charge other electronic devices like a mobile phone and an SOS light feature. Since my car has an integrated mobile phone charger, I will probably never use the power bank port on the inflator. I will also probably never use the SOS light feature, which is integrated into the fluorescent lamp on the side of the unit. However, I find the fluorescent lamp a really nice addition in case a tire needs to be inflated in the dark, like on the side of the road. It is bright enough to illuminate the work area in the dark and is more useful than the small LED located near where the inflator cord attaches to the unit. The TEKGINE inflator function buttons on the front of the unit are now colored orange. This was a nice improvement over the RYSEAB inflator, where all the buttons were the same black color as the inflator's body and were harder to read. The ability to power, not charge, the TEKGINE inflator from the car's 12V cigarette lighter was a feature that I thought at first was nice to have, but now have reconsidered after thinking how I have been using my RYSEAB inflator. The idea is not new, since other portable inflators can be powered by battery or 12V cigarette lighter, but those inflators are larger in size and heavier. As I said earlier, I wanted to store the RYSEAB inflator in my car, but as it turns out, I have never done so. In thinking about why I never put the RYSEAB inflator in my car, I came to the conclusion that I was worried about running out of battery power and not being able to use the inflator at the worst possible moment - on the side of the road in the dark with an inflator with no battery power. So, the TEKGINE inflator solves that problem. The included cigarette lighter power cord is long enough for the inflator to reach the rear tires of my car, but is not long enough to reach the trunk to inflate the spare. When the inflator is powered by the car's cigarette lighter, the battery level indicator on the display goes blank to indicate that the batteries are not being used. One question I would like to address is the current $20 price (exclusive of any coupons) difference between the TEKGINE and RYSEAB inflators. Is it worth paying the extra money for the TEKGINE inflator? My response would be that in my case, buying the TEKGINE inflator makes sense for my intended use. As I said earlier, I want a light and compact, portable inflator based on Li-ion power bank technology to keep in my car. From my experience, I never kept the RYSEAB inflator in my car because of the possibility of the battery becoming exhausted and thus being unusable at the worst possible time. The TEKGINE inflator being able to use the 12V cigarette lighter for power does not have this problem. I also find the fluorescent lamp on the side of the unit a useful addition in case a tire needs to be inflated on the side of the road in the dark. The hard case for the TEKGINE inflator is a superior storage solution to the RYSEAB cloth bag, and, in my mind together with the other new features, more than justify the increased price. Finally, since I now have two very capable portable battery powered inflators, my plans are to put the TEKGINE inflator in my car and keep the RYSEAB inflator to use at home. ... show more

  • What a huge convenience!
This beats manual pumps and the coin-operated pumps at the gas station. I can easily get through four tires, in the 20-25 psi range, up to recommended pressure per car manufacturer. The issue is that the hose gets uncomfortably hot, possibly even damaging to your skin if contact is too long. I would have preferred a more insulating hose. ... show more

  • Convenient for fixing low-pressures in tires
Great to keep with my car in case I need it, especially to set correct tire pressure and let it decide when to stop inflating. Also good to re-pressurize bike tires at start of bike season.

  • Excellent product with one big advantage
I've only had my Tekgine 2022 Upgraded Tire Inflator Portable Air Compressor for about a week so this can't be considered a full review, but what I've seen so far is good. Long time reliability will be revealed as I use it more and more. So far I've used it to top off car tires, lawn mower tires and tires on a two wheeler. It worked perfectly and is a huge convenience since now I don't have to drag around a big electric compressor to do simple maintenance. I will eventually store it in my Jeep to use in case of a road emergency. One thing I have to comment on. I've looked at many, many different portable compressors on Amazon and finally chose the Tekgine for one big reason, it has a dual power source. We all know how it is when you pick up a flashlight or any device and find that the batteries are dead. Even talking about a devise which is rechargeable, it's easy to forget to keep it charged resulting in a devise that won't work when you need it. I know I'm guilty of this. This Tekgine devise is different in the sense that if you forget to keep it charged up, you will still be able to plug it into your 12v outlet in your car and use it when that emergency happens. To me that is a big advantage. There are so many choices to choose from, some cheaper in price, some more expensive. The Tekgine compressor cost a few dollars more than some units, but is still less expensive than some and it offers two big features than many don't include. The aforementioned second power source is a big one and the second one is that it offers a hard cased, zippered storage case to store not only your portable compressor, but also all of the cables and accessories that you need to operate your compressor. That's why I'm so impressed with my Tekgine compressor. It cost a few dollars more than some, but for that money you get a sturdy, well built compressor that won't let you down even if you do forget to keep it charged. That feature alone could save you big bucks if or when a road emergency happens. ... show more

  • Awesome to keep in the car and great for camping
I keep this in my car for emergencies and it’s helped me a few times already. It’s great that it’s rechargeable using a USB C because I can just charge it in the car using a standard car charger whenever I need to and leave it in my trunk the rest of the time. When I got a small nail in my tire and it was slowly leaking air, I was able to still drive regularly with re-airing the tire regularly until I was able to get it repaired. It fills multiple flats on a single charge and when it’s not being used It doesn’t really drain that much. I’ve also used it with some attachments to fill up some air mattresses while camping and it a way more compact option than the last air compressor I had. ... show more

  • Compact and easy to assemble
Fast shipping and decent price. Nice carry case. I only gave 4 stars because I haven't had a chance to use it yet. After charging it seems to work ok.
