I’m giving this a five star review because just sitting in the backyard, it caught a swarm before I even took it to my bee yards. The hives look very nice. Now I’ve bought a lot of these hives, but I don’t remember who’s is who’s so I wanted to try different companies beehives so I think I’ve purchased at least one complete hive from almost every company on Amazon that sells these. So far all of my hives that I bought off of Amazon are a fair quality for hobby beekeepers. As far as how they fit, very fair. Some are true, and some are a little off. I’ve used a hand planer to fix some wonky sides. They’re very durable, as far as instructions some had good instructions some did not. So once again, I have bought numerous boxes off of Amazon, some of them were perfect. Some of them were not, so it’s kind of a crapshoot. When I said, these are good for hobbies, they are not commercial quality, but they will catch a swarm and they will work just like any box you put out with Bees inside. Bee prepared to make some wood adjustments. Being cleaning or sanding or gluing, these really are very nice for a first year beekeeper.

Bought this hive to get started beekeeping. I have absolutely no experience with woodwork or carpentry, but this came together quick and easy- I actually had fun putting it together! You will need some wood glue and a hammer, but other than that this package has everything you need. The hive itself is beautiful and smells great. The cedar wood seems to be high quality, and it is indeed coated with beeswax. I've had the hive outside for about two weeks now and even in rain and storms it seems to be holding up very well. For a first hive, this is great!

I was super pleased to see that this hive by thxbees is the same quality as my hives by Maybee. It’s also $20 cheaper. Same easy build and set up. It’s waxed already. Comes with everything needed to start a beginner hive. I left the entrance reducer at the house so this picture shows it without it but I intend to use my metal entrance reducers anyway. I got this hive for a potential swarm or free bees. As soon as I walked away honeybees appeared to check it out as you can see in the video.

Wood quality was ok. There were a few minor splits, chips and knots at the joints. Went together ok. Wax coating seemed very good on all pieces.

Comes in quite a few pieces but it’s really easy to put together. The pieces fit together easily and it comes covered in beeswax so it’s ready to use. We’ve have two of these hives and they seem to be holding up well so far. Will continue to purchase if we get more bees.
