Took a chance and ordered these for my 2022 Toyota Tundra Platinum.     • Great Quality Truck Rack with Awesome Features, but Plastic Pieces are an Issue

Got it installed this weekend & it is definitely good quality. Took me a few hours to get it done, but it's pretty easy. I'm just very methodical & always make sure I'm doing everything right. I decided on the Thule XSporter Pro because it's adjustable & also gives you the option to remove the rack when it's not going to be used for a while. I plan to use it for large fishing kayaks & camping trips when I'm towing a travel trailer. So, it won't be used all the time. When I have to load a 100+ lb fishing kayak, I'll be able to adjust the rear rack down, which will make it easier to load the kayak & slide it up on the rack. Still not easy, but "easier" nonetheless. FYI, I got mine from East Coast Jeeps here on Amazon. Shipping was extremely fast & I had no issues. Price was great as well. UPDATE: I used this rack for two very large fishing kayaks during a recent trip. It handled the kayaks very well. I am extremely satisfied with it for this type of use. However, the plastic pieces on the ends of the vertical supports are starting to break off. Also, the plastic cap on the bottoms of the mounts (the holes that the vertical supports go through) are breaking off as well. This is a major quality issue. I don't expect for the rest of them to last much longer. For the cost of this truck rack, this needs to be addressed by the manufacturer & their parts supplier. Either with more robust plastic or a composite material, or making these pieces out of aluminum. I trimmed one star from my review due to this issue. This is something that can easily be resolved through quality control & better engineering. UPDATE: Took it to Florida on a 7 day trip with kayaks on it. Still very sturdy & works well. Easy to adjust & that hasn't changed. Plastic pieces are still junk. The aluminum rack (the part that counts most) is very robust & is doing great. Along with the adjustment knobs. Love the rail system! Did not love paying for and waiting for the tacoma bed rail adapters. Especially after not knowing that I was needing to order them to install thr rack. A warning should be included on the item description for Toyota Tacoma owners to ensure they purchase the adapter. Amazing system otherwise. ... show more

    • Great rack, bit of a PITA to install

Overall this is an amazing rack. Personally I don't need the ability to adjust the height but it is a nice feature. The only issue I had it is just a bit of a PITA to install. Trying to hold the spreader in place while tightening the bolts was hard. Actually just tightening the bolts was a bit tough in a 2019 Ford F150. Some of the bolts were nice and easy to tighten, I could turn them by hand. Others required quite a bit of force to tighten and those were the PITA part. The locks are nice but don't expect them to stop a determine person. I accidently unlocked one using the wrong key although it was hard to turn. Overall, it holds my kayak quite nicely and the slide on supports really help with tie-downs. ... show more

Based on the reviews I read, I was a little nervous that this rack would be only ok. I was pleasantly surprised at how well put together it is. I set it up on my 2021 Ford Ranger, and I get good adjustability with a 38” spread. I use it to haul 9’ whitewater kayaks, so I don’t need a full spread like some installs. It was missing a piece, and Thule provided it right away after I contacted them. I would expect that it wouldn’t hold up to regular off road driving, but only time will tell. So far the only thing I don’t like is the price. $800 seems a little steep for how simple it is. But hey it is well thought out and the parts are well made. ... show more

    • Fits 2017 Tacoma Truck Bed with Limitations

This is a great product. Attentions 2017 Tacoma owners, the racks can only lower to about the #20 mark because the bed liner prevents it from recessing all the way down. The cross bars will be right over the cab roof. Otherwise, it works as advertised. You will need the Thule XK4 silver or black clamps to fit to the 2017 Tacoma bed rail system. This pair doesn't whistle while cruising on the highway like older models. That's assuming all the end caps and screws are in place. I noticed the bar end caps fell off many other users racks. You might consider checking the screws regularly and possibly adding locktite or something to keep the end cap screws from coming loose. Don't try to overload it with materials because those cross bars will bend. I feel like these racks are very overpriced so a good deal as of 2018 is less than $600.00 USD. Many spare parts are available from Thule who doesn't ship directly but may have one of their distributors mail parts out. Could take some time for hard to find parts that are not current. ... show more

    • Well built but installation is harder than expected

It is well built, however I Iinstalled it in a toyota tundra crew cab truck bed and I had to modify the original tie down racks in the bed of the truck. (had to cut and shorten them) You cannot install this without modifications to the sliding tie downs toyota sells for the bed. The rack comes with only two locking plastic fittings, so it looks unfinished when complete. I had to purchase 6 more (there is a total of 8) so it covers all the clamps and looks good like in the pictures they have online. ($80 more dollars). ... show more

I have one of these installed on my 2011 tacoma extended cab. I like it accept, the part you tighten and losen to raise and lower the rack has locked on the rear rack. Can't figure out how to get it lose. The rack can no longer be adjusted. So far I can't find help on The Thule site. I don't think it's under warranty. ... show more
