This is a great looking rack and pretty sturdy. I'm a recreational user (kayaks, maybe a roof topper, bikes), but I'm also pretty handy and I'll load it up with wood or other long stuff. The racks feel solid enough for this type of use. I don't think I would consider this rack if I were a full time building contractor--I don't know if they would prove durable enough in the long run. The height adjustment is good and solid--but in my opinion Thule could have made the operation a little quicker and easier than the somewhat tedious loosening of four dials and re tightening. But it does lock into height place solidly, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much. ... show more

Based on the reviews I read, I was a little nervous that this rack would be only ok. I was pleasantly surprised at how well put together it is. I set it up on my 2021 Ford Ranger, and I get good adjustability with a 38” spread. I use it to haul 9’ whitewater kayaks, so I don’t need a full spread like some installs. It was missing a piece, and Thule provided it right away after I contacted them. I would expect that it wouldn’t hold up to regular off road driving, but only time will tell. So far the only thing I don’t like is the price. $800 seems a little steep for how simple it is. But hey it is well thought out and the parts are well made. ... show more

Was very easy to install and looks great on my silver 2023 Ram 1500 crew cab. I went with the height adjustable model because I frequently haul canoes and needed to be sure of cab roof clearance. I deducted a star because I was a little disappointed to learn that the higher you set the height, the lower its weight capacity goes (considerably…from 450 lb at the #15 height setting down to 250 lb at the #29 setting. My 17 ft Old Town canoe required settings of 24 on the front rack and 17 on the rear rack). However, it performed beautifully on a recent 2 day fishing trip over semi rough gravel roads. ... show more

This is a great Rack and I highly recommend it! If you are looking for a pad to go on this rack, DO NOT buy the Thule surf pads as they just don't work - I had to return the surf pads. I had scoured the internet, went to local paddling stores, I even called Yakima and asked them to physically measure one of there pads that I thought might fit (they measured but it would not fit). I found VITAMIN BLUE "WIDE" PADS and they fit PERFECT! They cover the circumference of the crossbar, have a wide velcro the length of the pad, fit snug, have thick padding, will not spin around and expose your crossbar like the Thule pad, and they don't have any advertising. Vitamin Blue filled and shipped my order immediately and it arrived fast. ... show more

I wanted ladder racks for my Silverado but I didn’t want to get the huge over the cab ones because I knew inevitably i would load the hell out of them and my truck would turn into a work horse. I’m trying to keep a clean setup for now. I needed something that I could transport some 2x4’s and crown moulding or basetrim when I needed to. These things were simple to install and so far seam pretty sturdy. I love the adjustable tie downs. I think it’s the best feature of the racks and I Love how the black looks in my truck. The only thing I haven’t found out yet is if the local car wash will let me go through with these if I set them all the way down. Ive been doing the self wash. ... show more

The box it was shipped in looked like it had been dropped off the truck several times. It was taped excessively to cover up damaged spots. There was one item missing out of the box, so I’ll need to contact Thule and try to get that part so I can use the product.
