Okay, we did not purchase for a chicken heater.... it is being used for our outdoor kitty house. We have a custom wood kitty house with all the convenience needed for our two kitties. This heater gives them just the right amount of heat to stay warm and cozy at nights when locked up. They love their daytime freedom, and go in and out during the day, even keeps them warm in the day with door open. I was very disappointed in this heater. Received it, opened the box, took it out of the bubble wrap envelope and found the front of the heater full of scratches, looked used. Took the remote out of its wrapper, front full of scratches. This heater appears to have been used. I set it on my counter, plugged it in. It did heat up, but the radiated heat was pathetic. Doesn’t work as claimed. Will return. ... show more

I don’t have chickens. I do have two cats, who both think this is the cat’s pyjamas and would cuddle up with it all day long. I wanted an under-desk, low power heater that was safe to leave on if I forgot it. Basically, a DIY Kotatsu. I’d had a similar product from a different maker at a previous house (and left it there since it was mounted on the wall) but that one appears discontinued. This fit all my parameters. Set up was easy, it’s hanging from a Command hook on the wall, and I have to nudge my cats out of the way for my feet. (So yeah, it never gets turned off.) I have it set around 130, and it keeps me nice and warm without being a burn hazard. ... show more

I bought this heating plate for the chickens to use because it was safer than a traditional heat lamp. My chicks are now 6-8 weeks old in Oklahoma Winter. 20-60 degrees. I had to also purchase a heat lamp, I thought this would make the air warmer around the product as well, however it does not. The chicks needed the outside air to at least be 50 degrees is my understanding, but need alot of warmth. I appreciate the piece of mind with this product, but not overly jazzed with it. ... show more

I have a small coop for our 5 chickens and needed a little extra something for them for when the temperatures dropped below zero F. It's been a nice way to supplement a little extra warmth. It doesn't get it too hot and gives them a little spot to cuddle up even during the day if it's windy and cold. We have 3 breeds that aren't very fluffy or cold hardy so it helps them especially. The one major downfall I have had for this item is the light on the display is always on. This led to my chickens to begin laying again much sooner than they normally would have. It's not a deal-breaker, but next year we will be covering that up, which then makes it a pain to check the settings. ... show more

I purchased two of these, one for each side of the inner coop. My fluffy, feathered girls are safe, dry and warm even on cold nights, with these heaters. I like the peace of mind knowing that they will stay warm, but not too hot, as I can adjust the temperature for them. I will be returning this. I got for my chickens because the temperature is in the teens, but after a night of being on, it still has no heat. Yes, if you touch it you can feel warmth, but being on the highest setting seems like I shouldn't be able to touch it. My poor chickens 🐔 And the remote doesn't work.. ... show more

perfect for my small coop. Didnt work for the sedond year. I expected to be in good shape for my girls when freezing weather hit but the unit did not heat. The timer and remote worked it just doesn't heat.
