  • Nearly extinct breed of magnificently versatile PC case.
Style: V71 Color: Black
This case is LARGE. (room for)Four 200mm fans is an accomplishment, size prerequisite. But it is relatively quiet as a result. 200 mm fans may not be the "static pressure" king, but their size affords them a relatively premium airflow to rotation speed ratio. I've got a 5900x under a deepcool ak620 with an rx6900x in this case, and thermals are absolutely not an issue. As configured, despite running entirely air cooled in an "older" style case, the system benchmarks above average for the hardware. Better airflow can of course be had at a better price, and in a smaller, more practical case. That is, unless you'd also like an optical drive. BD-XL anyone? This is easier said than done in 2022. (I'm reviewing on 1/2/23, but I purchased this case for a build several months ago.) There is the Fractal Pop Air. Notably cheaper, still decent airflow, I think it can fit a pair of 140mm up front. I wasn't aware of that case at the time, and I'd say this is probably a bit better airflow still. This is on the nicer end of cases. The build quality is quite sturdy. The side panel is tinted tempered glass, and extends the entirety of the panel. There are high and low controls for the three preinstalled 200mm fans, but an additional y-splitter would be necessary to install a fourth matching fan to this controller. They are three pin fans, so no on board power management. Likewise, if you swap to different fans, you'll be forgoing the fan and light controls on top of the case. The included 140mm rear exhaust fan is also a simple three pin, but will be the only one that needs to be connected to the board directly. (no controller space by default) The stock fans are nearly silent on low, and still quite quiet on high. They are some of the cheapest 200mm fans you can buy if you need to replace, or just want that fourth slot filled. And, they are beyond perfectly adequate for consistently strenuous use. My 5900x tops out low-mid 60s under a dual tower cooler, and the hot-spot on that 6900xt peaks about 80. And the size of this case will easily facilitate dual water cooling solutions. I plan on using this case for an unreasonably long time. It's so good. Thermaltake offers retooled variants of this case with closed off panels, the drive bays removed, and 200mm fan support removed... if you're into that sort of thing. Check out newer models in the "core" series for decreasing value as time presses forward. This is a nearly extinct breed of magnificently versatile PC case. ... show more

  • Well made, and a good price. I think you'll be happy.
Style: V1 Color: Snow
I used this to build a small desktop PC (that sits actually ON the desktop) and I couldn't be happier with it. Firstly, it looks very nice. It's ideal for a small, stylish PC that can sit on your desk and won't overpower it. It's effectively a 10" white cube with a window in the top. Secondly, it's very well made. Everything apart from the front grille is powder-coated steel. The panels fit together well, and all the holes line up perfectly. The case comes fitted with a 200mm fan in the front, which honestly may be all the chassis cooling you'll need for your build. I added two 80mm fans in the rear, but honestly they only spin up for a few seconds on startup and shutdown. So with just the 200mm front fan and a CPU heat-sink+fan, you'll have a very quiet PC indeed. Thirdly, it's very well designed. With all four panels (top, bottom, and both sides) being removable this is very easy to work on, making even very tight builds a breeze. There's ample room for a full-size PSU and a decent-sized CPU cooler, and lots of space for hiding those pesky cables. The case will accommodate two HDDs and two SSDs at the same time - not one or the other like some small cases. Amazingly, it also will accommodate a very large GPU. Just for fun I fitted an old GeForce GTX 580 (a 270mm unit) without any problems at all, although such a component will almost certainly obstruct the side ventilation holes. Bear in mind that this is a small case, and will only accommodate a motherboard with the Mini-ITX form factor. You'd be well advised to make sure you can find a Mini-ITX motherboard at a price you're willing to pay before you buy this case. Also, although one of the product pictures shows the case with a full liquid cooling system installed, you most likely won't need anything that elaborate: the case has ample ventilation holes and that 200mm fan. So all-in-all this case is a joy to work with and looks very stylish when finished. All four removable panels are interchangeable as well, giving you some interesting custom options: for example, you could put the top window on either side instead, or you could swap the panels so that the side-mounted power switch and USB3 sockets would be on the top. I fitted mine with a blue LED CPU cooler and a couple of blue LED lighting strips, and it looks terrific - like an oversized ice cube. It's also one of the quietest PCs I've ever known, due in no small part to Thermaltake's virtually-silent 200mm front chassis fan. ... show more
