All you do is download the app and plug he Thermal Master into your phone. The Thermal Master shows you warm spots around your house. You can see 2x4s in the wall and also plumbing. Love it

I own several thermal cameras at this point. A few by Thermal Master too. Their cameras are always good quality. Often there's one thing that drops a star for them but that doesn't mean they are bad at all. This is one of the better phone-attached cameras I've used recently. It's able to pick out small point of heat at a good distance, like a mouse up a tree or a rat hiding in the wife's garden. The only real negative I'd give is that the image isn't tack sharp. The lens can't be focused like other cams I have. That said, it works in 95% of situations. It works just fine with my Pixel 9 Pro Xl, even in the case. The USB-c connector is long enough to reach the port and connect. I've found that cases can often interfere with attached cameras like this. The picture-in-picture is great when you need to show your landlord something like the lack of insulation in a part of your ceiling as seen in my picture. It even overlays the temp on the hottest spot in the picture to make it easier to understand. The carrying case is quality and a nice added touch. The carabiner attaches securely so it doesn't wander off or get lost. This is a crowded market for thermal cams and the price on this one for what you get is on par with what I'd expect.

I bought this a few months ago to check for cold spots and moisture behind my walls, and honestly, it’s been a real eye opener. I’m not a professional or anything, just a homeowner who wanted to know what was going on in places I can’t see. Setup was a breeze with my iPhone, I just downloaded the app, plugged it in, connect and it worked right away. No fuss at all. What really impressed me was how clear the images are. I had a small damp spot in my closet that I couldn’t figure out, and this camera showed me the heat pattern right away. Turns out it was a tiny leak from the sink on the other side of the wall. I never would’ve caught that without it. The picture quality made it super easy to tell what I was looking at, even though I’d never used a thermal camera before. I’ve had zero issues with it since I got it, and it’s become one of those tools I grab more than I expected. If you own a house and want to catch problems early, I’d say this is worth having around. I’d definitely buy it again and recommend it to any homeowner. Great value for the price.

This is a higher-end name-brand thermal camera for smartphones, and it does work, but I am a little disappointed in the overall quality and the app experience. The idea is good: plug the camera into a USB-C phone and use the phone screen, storage, and processor instead of carrying a separate thermal camera with its own built-in display. There are real advantages to that kind of design. A phone-based thermal camera can be small, easy to carry, and convenient for saving photos or video. It can be useful for HVAC checks, looking for heat around electronics, checking insulation issues, or doing quick troubleshooting where a thermal view is helpful. The problem is that a phone-based thermal camera relies heavily on the app, and I found the Thermal Master app annoying. It does not always automatically detect the camera, it does not handle rotation correctly, and overall it just does not feel as polished as I would expect from a name-brand product in this price range. The image quality is also only so-so. The resolution is usable, but not really better than similarly priced standalone thermal cameras that come with their own screens. Since those do not depend on a phone app to be useful, that makes the tradeoff harder to justify. Overall this is functional, and I can see the appeal if you specifically want a compact phone-based thermal camera. But for the price and brand, I expected better software and a more polished overall experience.

I have been using this USB-C thermal camera for almost three weeks, mainly for checking temperatures and looking for unusual hot or cold spots around the house, and it has been both useful and surprisingly easy to operate. Setup was straightforward. After installing the companion app, I connected the camera to my phone and was able to begin scanning without creating an account or working through a complicated setup process. The extended USB-C connector fits securely, and the included extension cable is helpful when checking areas where holding the phone directly against the camera would be awkward. The thermal image is clear enough to make temperature differences easy to identify. Walls, windows, vents, appliances, electronics, pipes, and other household surfaces show noticeable variations, and the image responds smoothly while moving the camera around a room. The automatic hot- and cold-point tracking is especially convenient because it immediately highlights the highest and lowest temperatures in view. The adjustable color palettes and temperature range controls make the camera more versatile than simply displaying a basic heat map. The zoom works well for examining smaller areas, while the wider field of view is useful for scanning an entire wall or room. Being able to capture photos and videos through the app also makes it easy to document anything that may need further inspection. I also appreciate that the camera draws power directly from the connected device, so there is no separate battery to charge or maintain. It is extremely compact and takes up very little storage space, while the protective case keeps the camera and cable together when they are not being used. There is a small learning curve involved in understanding the different settings and interpreting what the thermal patterns actually indicate. It is also important to remember that the camera measures surface temperatures rather than seeing through walls or other solid materials. Once those limitations are understood, however, it becomes a practical tool for checking insulation, drafts, heating and cooling performance, electrical equipment, and other temperature-related concerns. After almost three weeks, it has connected reliably, produced smooth and detailed images, and given me several useful ways to inspect areas that would otherwise be difficult to evaluate by touch alone.

I wanted a better way to check for drafts around the house and to see whether a few HVAC vents were actually performing as they should. I plugged the thermal camera into my phone, opened the app, and was looking at thermal images within a minute or two. The picture was clear enough to spot temperature differences across walls, vents, and electrical panels. I even found one section of an exterior wall that stood out from the rest, which gave me a good place to start investigating an insulation issue. I've also used it to check electronics around the house to see which ones were running hotter than expected. The zoom is useful for getting a closer look, although I still found the best results came from moving closer whenever possible. While this doesn't diagnose problems for you, it shows where temperature differences exist, but it's up to you to work out whether that's caused by missing insulation, an air leak, an overloaded electrical component, or something else. I like that it uses my phone as the screen because it keeps the whole setup compact and there's no separate battery to charge. For homeowners, DIYers, or anyone who likes solving problems before they become expensive repairs, it's a genuinely useful tool. Considering the image quality and features, I think it offers good value for the money.
