Anything that stops vampires is ten stars for me & this stops them. It doesn't smell. It doesn't make noise. It doesn't get hot. It just clears the mosquitos & only mosquitos. Comes with easy to set up instructions. Just a couple tips to offer. First, the butane cartridge doesn't click. Just kind of stays in after you push it. The base twists to turn on & off but you have to click to the start position to activate yet, the Start position is spring loaded so it bounces back to On. I thought it was broken, nope that's how it works. Second, you know it's On bc a light illuminates. It's not so much a light as an orange pinprick you have to look through window to see. You may want to know how you'll know when to change the pad, Trust Me~ You'll Know, but the pad turns from blue to white if you want to keep an eye on it..has about a 4 hour life per pad & you get 3. I am the person a mosquito will find from miles away even in my house. The only one they find in a room of people. I live in a tropical climate & never have a moment's peace in my garden. I've used sprays, foggers, candles, torches...the list goes on. This is the first time I've been able to sit on my patio in peace, even the cat was safe. Already ordered another for a friend & put the refills on Subscribe & Save.

Ok. So I got this out of desperation. We live in the panhandle of Florida where the humidity and warm temps means mosquitos are abundant. I get eaten alive while my happy-go-lucky husband avoids all bites. He scoffed when I ordered this saying it wouldn’t work but guess who was WRONG?! Yep. This thing works MIRACLES y’all! Freaking MIRACLES. I let it warm up for a good 5-10 min and it works amazingly. When I’ve left it warm up I have received ZERO bites within that 10-15 foot radius, which is perfect for our deck. So after 2 weeks here are the pros and the cons because everything has a con. Pros: repeals mosquitos crazy well, has a slight pleasant smell, it’s cute, no open flames, easy to operate, easy to install new repellant mats, affordable replacement mats, ease of ordering replacement butane. Cons: I’m on my second mat (they say they last 12 hours which has been more like 10ish for us), the butane already ran out (it comes with one butane cartridge for fuel but after my second mat it’s run out). Bottom line, BUY THIS and BUY EXTRA butane and cartridges so you don’t run out!!

So I was quite disappointed at first because I couldn’t seem to keep the flame lit, it would start up and quickly fizzle out, assuming it was faulty I was quite upset the first night attempting to use it. A couple days later with a clearer head it occurred to me that it’s a “flame” and flames need oxygen, and I’ve been trying to use it with the lid on. So I kept the lid off and it started working without any problems. Unfortunately nothing in the directions mentions the lid, and the picture on amazon doesn’t show the lid, which is probably where most people’s bad reviews are coming from. So keep the lid off unless storing it somewhere and enjoy!

The pictures I posted speaks by themselves. This device is a prank on you. While the device was on dor around 2 hours, mosquitos played right on top of it After 1 hour, the pad starts to become white but they were supposed to last 4 hours... and mosquitos wouldn't stop coming regardless if changed to new pads or not. I was on my patio, no wind, only frustration. I am just a regular guy trying to sit on my patio without mosquitos. My advice: dont spend any money on this device. Go and look for a pest control professional or buy pest control products yourself. In summary: waste of money, mosquitos won't go away and they will fly over the device and over your food.

I used this product in my yard in Florida. I gave it more than an hour (manual says it takes 10-15 minutes to be effective). I was still being swarmed by mosquitoes. I decided to return product but because it contains butane it cannot be returned. Amazon gave me a full refund.

Turned it on, watched the light smoke develop, then let it sit on my porch for about 15 minutes before sitting down. Mosquitoes were still very active and all around me. Sat the unit between my ankles and was promptly bitten in the upper thigh. Picked it up and moved it around, still mosquitoes everywhere. Did not work at all.

This says it is chemical free, safe to use around pets and kids, no smell. Photo shows people eating a picnic with wine and food next to the Thermacell. BUT when you open the product, it clearly says it is unsafe to use around food and not to use it near food, cats or fish. So it is not pet-safe as advertised, nor can you use it on your deck when BBQ or dinner outside, which is what I wanted it for. I tried to return it, but THEY DON'T TAKE RETURNS. So now I have falsely advertised garbage that I'm stuck with.
