This insect killer creates a home defense bug barrier for up to 12 months protection against ants, roaches and spiders indoors on non-porous surfaces for home protection and defense against bugs. Plus, the Invisi-Shield Technology formula gives off no fumes, dries clear and dries fast. Use this pest control product anytime as a preventative treatment or after you see evidence of insect activity for long lasting-control. Apply this home defense bug spray indoors in kitchens and bathrooms or around doors and windows, including cracks and crevices and other entry points, and outdoors to the foundation perimeters, patios, decks, garages and wherever insects are a recurring problem. The included continuous spray Comfort Wand makes application easy for DIY homeowners without bending, pumping or hand-fatigue. For indoor surfaces, hold sprayer 12 inches from surface being sprayed and apply a 4-inch wide band, or use a 12-inch wide band when applying outdoors to a home perimeter. So we’ve been having a mosquito and spider issue, especially in the backyard and tons of crickets along the side of the house in the window wells. I figure this would be cheaper than bringing in someone to spray the yard. It took about 45mins to spray the perimeter of my house, front and back. Half way through spraying the front the wand stopped spraying. The motor was still going so it wasn’t the batteries. I had my husband look at it and all he had to do was lift the bottle above the wand and it started spraying again. If this doesn’t work for you try soaking the tip of the wand in hot soapy water. I will say that this stuff does it’s job. While I was spraying in the backyard I noticed a huge spider crawling up the side of the house, blasted it and it died almost immediately. I've used the smaller version for spiders and ants from a grocery store, originally. It worked for that, just fine. This year, it's getting closer to winter..so colder outside, lots warmer inside. All of my animals are indoor/outdoor, they can come and go as they please. They unfortunately, brought home a heck of a bout of fleas. This isn't a miracle, it's a chemical. My house isn't very big, but I'm glad I bought this. It has taken several "spraying sessions", but it works as intended. If you have a bad infestation of Anything really, Nothing will work instantly...unless it'll kill you too... I read people having issues with their wands, but when I got it. I inspected it. Batteries were good, wires all connected. Works well. I do have some recommendations, make sure no one is in your house after it's very clean. Spray EVERYTHING. Let it dry pretty good, I waited 8 hours or so. Then you can go on about your business. If your infestation is a bad one: spray once a week until you notice the difference you are looking for. Longevity, really depends on me. After all the bugs are killed, I have to clean them up. And keep them that way. I hate that in my basement but I haven't had spider issues (not any bad ones) in 3 years. Same in my kitchen with ants. Overall, good product. Will use as needed and purchase more in the future. I have been using Ortho Home Defense for 18 years. I use it to treat my home for pest control. I spray the perimeter of the house outside and at the base of every wall inside. During this time my 2 cats lived inside and had a cat door allowing then to roam in and out. My backyard is heavily wooded yet I have never had fleas or ticks in my home. The bugs that do get inside never get but at most 6 inches from the wall before they die. I use to spray monthly but have gone 3 to 6 months between sprays and the product continues to eliminate the bugs. Fortunately they have changed the sprayer in the last few years and I no longer have problems with it not spraying. Highly Recommended ... show more

I probably used half the battery life trying to get this thing to spray. Have been using this same product for years so I'm no clueless first timer. Still did the ups/downs/arounds and arounds just in case I was missing a couple brain cells from last year. After 20 trys in every position imaginable I got kind of mad and kicked the container. It tipped over on it's side- so I thought OK, hadn't thought of that one! Well -IT WORKED!! Sprayed like crazy. So if you don't mind awkward and messy -it's not easy carting a heavy jug around like that and it leakes from the cap - use up what you have then move to a different companies brand. From what I'm reading Ortho wasn't helpful to others with this same defective wand problem. I wrote them- So if I get the same 'new company policy' I'll just spend my money somewhere else. There's more than one way to kill a (fat) cat. Will update this review after (if) I hear back from the Ortho people. Update- I had a few 'back and forth' contacts with Ortho regarding this faulty sprayer. Gave them all the info they asked for- even told them I had the sprayer from last year's purchase and it wouldn't work either. First response was the usual 'on the lable' info. Last response from them was an 8 step check- a couple of those steps had 3-4 steps of their own. Ridiculous. That's what they have QA people for. Since I'm not alone in this faulty sprayer issue I suspect this was their way to make me go away. I will. Right to a different brand- NOT bought online, but from a retailer I can just take it back to. Unfortunately, this is just another 'make it cheaper, sell it $higher and adopt the same 'so sad, too bad' mentality. ... show more
