These lights worked exactly as described: The light comes on when the room is dark, and stays on for a couple of minutes when it senses motion. It lights up the toilet bowl with a super-cool glow! The next thing I know - there are 4 grown men standing in my bathroom staring at the toilet admiring the 'nice colors.' Yes - now they all want one! It is a pretty neat little gadget. A plus - I think it helps their 'aim'! The toilet isn't as dirty around the rim. A minus (for the ladies) - If you choose for it to change colors, the first color is BRIGHT red. When I first ordered this it was for a fun little gag gift. However, it turns out that it actually is a unique and helpful gadget. I placed one on my toilet to see how it worked and when I had to get up in the middle of the night to do my business, it was actually refreshing to see the toilet bowl all lit up the minute I walked into the bathroom. For an elderly person, it really helped to clearly see where I needed to go as I don't turn lights on. The motion sensor works great and the colors are vivid yet soft and it turns off pretty quickly after leaving the bathroom. It really beats the heck out of keeping a night light on all night. I'd say it is a great gadget for the elderly and really for anyone who has to get up in the middle of the night to go. In fact, I can see using this in other places of your home where you need a little extra light when you have to get up, but not have a light on for the entire night. He doesn't want to turn on the bright light (understandable), or have the night light on (not understandable), so the ToiLight has helped with there being less messes.
