Took this to Costa Rica with me and easily packed it into whatever I was carrying each day. It is perfectly light weight and I appreciated the vents under the arms to cool off in the sticky weather but it was always light enough to not be a burden. I sized up per some of the other comments so that I could layer under it and it still fit well in the boxier size. I also got this jacket properly filthy and it cleaned off surprisingly well. I even had a mishap with some clam sauce getting all over me from a faulty takeout carton combined with infamous Costa Rican potholes and initially I thought the jacket was destined for a disgusting orange splattered fate. I scrubbed with dish soap and a washcloth with little progress before slathering with stain remover (shoutout to Grandma’s Secret Spot Remover and its lovely little travel size) and the next morning I scrubbed again with complete success. I rinsed it out and hung it in the shower for a few hours and in a place where nothing ever seems completely dry, it was perfectly dry and ready to wear on my next adventure. I’m so glad it’s saved because I would have bought a new one. 10/10

I purchased this for my wife for our recent trip to Ireland after hearing that they can go through four seasons in a day. I must say that we were both very impressed (I purchased myself the same jacket in a Men's size Large). Some days it would pour and the jackets kept us dry. At times along the coast there would be very blustery winds and these provided very good wind protection. They also provided an excellent external layer (with a few underneath) at night when the temps dropped down. My wife being hot-natured enjoyed the zippered vents under the arms for added ventilation. The zipper/Velcro closure system was excellent at keeping out the elements and the deep inside pockets kept travel documents and tickets secure and dry. The bungee cords at the waist helped immensely with the wind and, once i learned how to use it, so did the cords in the hood which snugged the hood to my head and allowed me to have peripheral vision and kept the hood from acting like a sail during gusts. I was initially concerned over the price and hoopla that everyone gives to North Face gear but now I see why. This was the perfect purchase for our trip and I could not be more pleased. When not in use it dried quickly and could be rolled quite small to stow in our packs. I wish i had purchased a North Face years ago. Glad i have one now.

Out of the box, the look is wonderful. Plum in XS; love the color, and many compliments on it so far. Great windbreaker, length is good; fits well over thick tailor-fit fleece and fine without. I'm curvy, but if my hips were any wider, hipline might be a bit tight when worn over fleece. Sleeves are abt. 2.5" too long for me; on an XS would want them to be 1-2" shorter, but story of my life. I'm 5' tall, 115#, and *every* sleeve always somewhat too long for me. W/the adjustable Velcro wrist closure, sleeves fit w/ just a little bunching above wrist . Zip vents work well so far; I have two bum wrists right now, but still able to open/close each one with a single hand; smooth zip action. I'm cold-natured but sensitive to heating up in layers w/exertion. The jacket held up well to the "breathability" test on uphill/downhill fast walks; I really noticed the consistent temp maintained (with vents open). Bought for long walks in cool/windy/often-rainy climate in which 4 seasons can present in any given day. Will update review at a later date!

This appears to be a cheaply made version of the original NF rain jacket. The sizing is way off. The large I ordered is smaller than my medium and small version of the same jacket. The material crinkles like a plastic grocery bag when you walk and it’s extremely annoying. I would buy this cost from Nordstrom or north face directly if you want an authentic NF jacket as this version is very poorly made.
