    • love it but it has an odd quirk...
so i got this lamp a couple of years ago to replace a halogen torch lamp that heats up my living room too much in the already warm months. It does a great job of lighting and i love the remote control. The magnetic feature on the remote is pretty handy as well since I'm always dropping remotes in places i can't easily reach or putting them somewhere that I can't remember. The faceplate of the remote falls off all the time so I had to get some glue to stick that on, but that's really not a big deal. The odd issue i have is with power failures. So the lamp is plugged into a 10 foot basic extension cord. Let's say the lamp is turned off and my power goes out for whatever reason. When the power comes back on, the lamp automatically turns on, full brightness. I can't find if this is a built in feature or not (not that i reealllly searched hard to find out). and I can't decide if i like this or not. It's great when it happens at night and I'm sitting on the couch in the dark. Power comes back on and voila! the lamp turns on by itself and i have light. But during the day, or in the middle of the night when i'm in bed or when I'm not home and the power goes out, it's another story. It's an annoyance during the day because i have to go turn it off (yes there's the remote, but I have to go find the remote to turn off the lamp). It's an annoyance at night because i'm in bed sleeping and all of a sudden i have a lamp set to high shining into my bedroom, that wakes me up and then have to get up to find the remote turn it off. And if i'm away during a power outage, and the lamp comes on, it's on the entire time i'm gone, which could be a couple of hours to a couple of weeks. This last part is a mild concern because i am in CA, so on the chance it's on during an earthquake, falls over and hits my coffee table, the top breaks and exposes wires or a circuit or something else, what are the chance of it causing a fire? I am not an electrician nor am i even remotely 'handy' so i have no clue if this is a possibility with LED lights. Anybody else have this same issue? ... show more

    • Great lamp, even for those w/ light sensitity
It's pretty much what I wanted. I really love the touch lamps because they give off a great diffuse light and I'm sensitive to light. The bonuses on this one are the swivel head on the lamp itself and the remote. I bought this for my bedroom and having recently moved from a house to an apt, my bedroom furniture takes up a good bit of room and I couldn't put the lamp by my bed. So having the remote is great so I can control from my bed and not have to physically touch the lamp. There's also the dimming feature which is a nice treat. The remote is also magnetic. You could stick it in several places. From what I've read, if you buy more than one of these lamps, make sure you keep them far, far apart as the remotes share the same signal and you could control all at one time with one remote; which I suppose could be funny at some point. I'd recommend the lamp. I love hat it's not over-bright, enough that you could read comfortably with it or turn it down and watch a movie or, if you need to, leave a low light on overnight.     • Works Perfectly!
This is my second Tenergy floor lamp. I bought one over a year ago and it still works flawlessly. I really like this lamp. I like the fact that it is nearly 6 feet tall (71 inches) and has a nice heavy 11 inch diameter base, unlike many of the knockoffs. It weighs 14.5 lbs, most of it in the base. Both remotes work perfectly, each for its assigned lamp, even though Tenergy warns that one remote might operate both (which I half way expected by all the reviews, and would have been fine with me) For many years I had a 300 Watt Halogen floor lamp, which might have been a little brighter than one of these lamps. With my new second lamp I now have as much brightness as I want. Also, at only 30 Watts per lamp, these save LOTS of electricity, and is SO much safer, as Halogens are so hot they infamously cause fires. These lamps are barely more than warm. Just like the first one, it came well protected in a second Amazon Box, screwed together easily, even the three tiny hex screws that hold on the top glass plate. They even included the proper hex screwdriver and an extra screw in case you are so silly as to assemble it on your patio or lawn. Only if you DO buy this lamp, which I highly recommend, here are Three tips for older folks like me: 1. Don't forget to take the nearly invisible plastic off the battery before you pit it in your remote. 2. I put a wide line of white paint (I used "white out" typewriter correction fluid) around the ON / OFF button on your lamp shaft, so I can find it in the dark. White on white, or, as in this case, black on black buttons and switches are one of my pet peeves. 3. Dust can settle on the flat glass, which you may not notice unless you are well over 6 feet tall, and even a thin layer of dust can actually dim this style of lamp noticeably.     • Great lamp! Annoying control design.
It's quick to unpack + assemble and lights up the room. Overall a great lamp with an annoying design flaw. The controls directly on the lamp are not user-friendly. It has be turned all the way up first in order to dim it (and vice versa) and can take a few tries to get a response. It's definitely not due to fat-fingering; I'm a pianist with pretty slim fingers. Fortunately, the remote has actual buttons has individual buttons for on, off, brighten and dim, and the remote itself even has a magnet to attach to a fridge/whiteboard. ... show more
