Our central air is down awating parts, so we needed something for emergency use. We bought this as an emergency backup to our central air. The 8000 BTU unit is perfect for our 352 sq ft bedroom area. it is oversized for the other bedroom. It will work great with our portable generator during major power outages like hurricanes. It took a while to cool the room from nearly 90 degrees, but once cool it was set on 78 deg and ECO mode. The room is staying pleasantly coot. Noise level is about what you'd expect. WiFi connectivity is a bit of a chore with multiple steps required after downloading the TCL app. ... show more

I bought this item after my AC broke down. Had to way about a week and a half to install and it worked fine for 3 days then it started blowing the cool air out the back and only on the edges. As well I saw water leaking while it was working and didn't think anything of it as that is normal but after it broke down I stop using it and noticed it was still leaking what looked like water but it's a clear oil type substance. I contacted the seller and tried to explain and he said I was a lair and the unit is very unlikely to be faulty in any way and basically called me a lair and said he wasn't born yesterday and he see people at least once a week trying to scam him and get free items sand shipping. Don't do business with this 3rd party sell. Very rude and very unprofessional. What the seller said: Jul 20, 2026 4:51 AM That's not going to work. If you threw the box away, you're out of luck. Returns are not free, and it's very unlikely for the a/c to be defective. People try to say things are defective all.the.time. in an attempt to avoid paying return shipping. No joke, this thing blows! I often find myself waking up in the middle of the night freezing my bones and soul away. I was skeptical at first since I NEVER saw TCL in the AC industry but im glad i took the chance. Not only is it ridiculously cold but it's surprisingly quiet compared to my other ac unit. I never figured out how to connect the app but that's ok, the remote is more than enough. Easy set up and easy to use. I love the different settings such as sleep and Eco. I have not messed with the wifi connectivity or smart device setup yet, but it works well as a AC! It is not the quietest unit I've seen, but fits well in the window and wasn't too difficult to install.
