    • Decent Unit, Not a Great Value
After burning through a couple dehumidifiers in the last 5-6 years, I was in the market for a more durable unit for our basement living area (~1800 sq ft), even if it cost more. Our previous units were rated for 4500 sq ft and typically would fill a condensation bucket every couple days during the most humid times of the year. (Unfortunately, we have no easy access to a drain in our set up.) After looking around I took a chance on the TCL M Series after some reviews described it as an efficient and robustly designed unit. On the plus side, it is very quiet and seems pretty powerful (it is rated at 50 pints a day and appropriate for “Very Wet” environments). We’ll see about its reliability, but the main gripe is the ridiculously small capacity of the internal condensation reservoir which only holds ~5 quarts. (Do the math on how frequently it needs to be emptied during times of maximum duty.) While the unit is equipped with an auxiliary drain outlet, the unit does not have a pump for moving water to a drain and TCL is too cheap to even include a plastic hose for gravity draining…. At this price point, both are pretty disappointing. When I contacted the seller to request a hose, they responded that the unit was not designed for draining this way (only by emptying the internal reservoir) despite the obvious presence of the drain fitting and its marketing as a high capacity unit for “Very Wet” environments. In spite of the frustration, I decided not to go through the hassle of returning the unit (which would have cost me $70 in UPS shipping charges) and have rigged a gravity drain from the back of the TCL to a 5 gallon pail for times when we’re travelling and not able to constantly empty the small internal reservoir. Overall, if you need a high capacity unit you would be better off looking elsewhere. ... show more

Horrible product. Had to pry bucket out of unit to remove it. Was lead to believe you could continuously gravity drain water out without pump model. This dehumidifier is definitely not durable.

Defective and horrible customer service. The warranty is useless when they require things you cannot provide. I doubt they even read the emails. Some response over and over again.
