Lampshades were simple to assemble, I prefer a fabric lampshade which is an affordable subsequent purchase because these lamps are so affordable. I just received these lamps and I love them. They were packaged very securely. I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of assembly. I did not give them 5 stars only because I do not care for the fact that the lamp wire come directly out of the back of the lamp and not the base. I think they would be best served, if you will, by creating an indentation in the base for this purpose. I have found them to be sturdy. I needed 2 matching table lamps. I wanted interesting ones vs ubiquitous, stationary table lamps with traditional ceramic bases and spider drum shades. After a verrrrry long search (brick & mortar stores, even thrift shops where I’ve enjoyed some interesting finds) I decided on these and I couldn’t be happier. I mean, I’m jumpin for damned joy. They arrived overnight and the packaging was great. The first thing I noticed was how heavy the package was. As I unboxed them, I realized the weight was in the marble bases: hefty, durable and packed in heavy duty styrofoam. I’d ordered the gold with beige shades, and any concerns I had about the colors of both the metal and shades were entirely relieved as I could see the gold was muted vs flashy (a perfect match to Henn&Heart’s brass coffee table) and the shades were a muted cream color vs bright white. I’m turning a primary bedroom in an old, rickety 2nd floor apartment building into a sitting room. It faces dead north with 2 walls of windows cantilevered over the water on Florida’s Gulf Coast. Just this 175sf room had been quite a project for me. I’m 75, but any age, the lighting in this room is more like a nightmare than a challenge, especially where colors are a concerned. Any & all colors change at any given time during the day, and so finding golds that don’t look yellow (or green!) and whites that look warm vs yellow or grey hasn’t been easy for anything in here, including lamps. At long last, these gorgeous lamps solved that problem, allowing me to introduce a modern esthetic, save precious space, maintain a sense of sophistication and permanence vs feeling like I’m 18 and living in a dorm 🙄 (which was a blast in the late 60’s). I’m also trying to work with what I have, so things are kind of eclectic in this room. I found the two matching side tables for $9 on a lucky day at Goodwill. They’re solid walnut and truly MCM (I’d guess mid ‘50s). After Howard’s wipe on stain + Feed n Wax, damn they look good, especially with these lamps, which fit both the size and style of the tables perfectly. And give me pull chains here vs “touch control” any day, especially THESE pull chains. The heft and sophistication of the pulls (not common round balls and certainly not plastic) are like the cherry on the top of these lamps which are all that and a bag o chips. Ordered these lamps and I am VERY happy with the purchase! They are a perfect addition to our dining room side table and we have them hooked up to our wireless bluetooth home system. They can be adjusted to three different intensity levels and have a great brushed nickel metal finish. The do NOT have a touch control and are plugged into a standard wall outlet. They are a perfect size and the included lamp shades are also high quality. These lamps are beautiful but they do require assembly, even the lamp shades have to be assembled. The price was great so I didn't mind putting them together.

The lamps a good for what I wanted them for. The only thing to note is the shades have to be put together and snap on. When the light is on you can see where the snaps are. Not a big deal but just a heads up for anyone else that it might bother.
