6 months Update: Lights are still working, no flickering. Very bright. They seem to work the same way in sensing when to turn on just like the headlights in most modern cars that are set to auto. I've been out in the yard after an afternoon rainstorm, they were on about an hour before dusk hit. They're very efficient and work way better with natural daylight than my porch dusk to dawn bulbs. The BIG plus, my energy bill has not gone up. Worth everything dollar. They weren't lying! These lights are bright. A street light has been out on my street which left one side of my home pitch black and my neighbors keep their yards dark. For my safety and piece of mind, the lights are worth every penny. I'll update if i notice any flickering or if the bulbs short out. So I bought these and completely forgot that my floodlight setup was already dusk to dawn. I didnt need dusk to dawn bulbs lol. I bought several of these at Menards but miscounted how many I needed. Luckily I found them on Amazon to finish out my exterior and the price at the time was good too. I have 16 of these on my house. can see several hundred feet with them. Now that I have these in my PAR38 fixtures I want to add 2 more fixtures, 1 in the front and 1 in the back to get some dead spots. But the 16 I have are awesome. I pointed 1, yes ONE, UNO, EIN bulb at my pole barn 300' away and I can see the key hole in the lock to open the door! unreal. Before I had to walk over there with a flashlight in hand. Before I had 250W equivalent halogens in the exact PAR38 fixtures. I could barely see 40' from my house. So far no failures. We burn these probably a half hour on average on any given day in the back yard, maybe 30 minutes a week in the front. Have had them installed for a year. ... show more

I have a motion flood light on both corners on the back of my 70 foot long house to be able to see my dogs at night. When one of the 150 watt halogen ones went bad I got the brightest advertised led one I could find and was very happy with the brightness of it. I could actually see where it lit up the yard a good deal more where it overlapped the edge of the other halogen. About a year later the other halogen went out so I planned to get the same led bulb as I used the first time. As I was looking for it I found this one and decided to give it a try. What a difference! This bulb actually lit up the back yard much further out, wider and brighter than the first led bulb. You could easily see where this bulb actually "drowned out" the other one where they overlapped. I couldn't believe how much brighter it was so I got another one for the other end of the house and I now have a backyard that's lit up like a ballpark at night! Highly recommended ... show more

So I bought an inexpensive outdoor floodlight lamp for my patio that holds 2 bulbs and put a regular flood in one, and Ultra LED in the other - this thing is extremely bright. If I needed it for security for something, this would get the job done because it goes very far and is white-bright. I found it too bright, and when it was on the house and I was walking towards the house at night with it on, it would actually hurt my eyes. You cannot look at this light directly without discomfort (not that I normally stare at lights). I reverted back to a regular flood for my patio so folks could BBQ and sit at the table without putting on sunglasses. If you had a large back yard or parking/lot and this was on motion or security setting, it lights up a great distance. It just did not fit my needs. ... show more

And a LOT of it. Don't be like a certain U.S. president during a partial solar eclipse and look directly at them -- they are seriously bright. I replaced a couple of older (> 13 years since they came with the house) halogen bulbs and one of these crushed two of those. I was specifically looking for dimmable led to hang 20 feet up to light up the back yard. I bought cheaper lights for the front and side but I wanted the kids to be able to play in the back and they definitely deliver. They are also 5000K which means "daylight" white...not yellow...which again is what I wanted in the back yard. I have them Alexa controlled using a leviton wifi enabled led dimmable switch. So the bulb is NOT Alexa enabled..the switch is..I just wanted to be clear. At the lowest "Alexa 1%" setting of the switch it is still pretty bright but that's because of the switch too...I think. Anyway...if you're looking for a "brighter than most" par38 bulb you're in the right place. They've only been up a few weeks so I can't tell you about longevity but if something happens I'll be sure to update. I expect to get a lot of use out of these this spring and summer. These Bulbs are the best LED bulbs I ever bought! I first found them in Lowes for $21.99 each several years ago, and bought 6 they lit up my yard front and back like I was at a night time Football game ! My Neighbors were impressed I could tell ! But I just told them I installed them for the good of the Neighborhood ! I have them installed in motion sensor spotlight Fixtures ! So when they come on it’s a big blast of light. I also installed Wifi Smart switches that supply power to the motion sensor lights, what’s great about them is if you hear or see something outside and the lights don’t , if you quick off/on the smart switch it will activate the spot light I bought the smart switches right on Amazon for a much better price than home supply stores. These bulbs are top shelf ! No flicker just bright Daylight Eqivilent. I just bought 2 more for another dark location on the outside corner of my house. ... show more

As a long-time fan of LED bulbs, I know it's a challenge finding one that's really as bright as the incandescent bulb they claim to replace. Of course you can generally do fairly well with going by the lumen rating but that's not always foolproof (although I am puzzled as to how two bulbs from two different manufacturers with the same lumens rating can appear a different brightness from each other, as I have seen several times). Anyway long story short, if you think these will be bright because they have a high lumen number, well you would be right! Two of these bulbs replacing two 100 watt halogen bulbs (purchased before they became illegal to make) throws at least twice the light--in fact I have considered taking one out again because I feel like you can see my house from space now with the two bulbs in place. But I use them to deter predators from coming too close to my barn so the increased brightness should definitely repel far more effectively than the bulbs they replaced. ... show more
