  • bright bulb and easy to use
bright bulb with many features. Very substantial bulb. And it runs off it's internal battery when needed! could load the app on two phones, using the same account, and easily control the bulb with either phone (using iOS 15 and 16). Use it to have red light inside during long winters. Doesn't use router which was a plus for me. Only negative is that it doesn't have a wake or sleep timer--seems like that would be an easy add to the app. If you want roughly the same capability with a timer, try the Govee B60051C1. ... show more

  • Killer accent practicals powered by a super strong app.
Love the lite, I would wish for more output, but it is advertised as practical lighting, and for that purpose, 8w is enough. The sidus link app is intuitive and works better than any lighting app I've ever used. The color matching capabilities, the effects, the internal battery charging from a standard socket, Aperture sure as hell knows what they are doing. I'm buying a few more regardless of cost. They are that good. ... show more

  • Every film maker needs a couple
Two of these will cover most situations I encounter in my indie narrative work - I only use them to replace bulbs in practicals. But you could also get a clamp-on aluminum worklight fixture from the local hardware store and use these as accent lights shining directly on your subject or background, like you would any other RGB fixture. The lack of decent on-fixture controls means you'll be using your phone or a tablet a lot. But that's a minor tradeoff, especially considering how powerful the control app is. Pick up a dedicated cheapo Android tablet if you have more than a couple Aputure/Sidis-compatible lights! ... show more

  • Love the Bulb / Don’t love the App
Bulb is great. The app that you can use to control the bulb isnt awesome.

  • Decent
Does what it says on the tin. The only thing that I haven't figured out yet how to turn a light off at the switch and have this bulb go off. Not very realistic if you have a character on screen turn off the light and the bulb doesn't go off!

  • More lighting tools to add to the arsenal .
I needed this for lamps that may be in photos or videos. With the Sidus app they work great. The photos show two plugs. I bought them at Home Depot to charge them. They cost about $4 each. I prefer that then having to charge them in a lamp.

  • Would like to see an updated version w/ USB-C for charging
grabbed one of these for a run-and-gun documentary shoot to use for accent/fill as needed for locations that couldn't be scouted in advance. Like any piece of new kit be sure to read the instructions and understand how to use it before your shoot. the un bulb controls are functional but not intuitive, and there's limited feedback to know the status of the bulb. My biggest disappointment is that the *only* way to charge this bulb is in a light socket. everything else in my kit for this shoot could be charged on the go over USB-c. I think the battery mode was really only designed as a convenience for setting up lights without having to worry about wiring things up until positions are set, but adding USB charging capability would allow it to be a truly wireless light. Also I'm unimpressed with the location and ergonomics of the buttons. they're too easily depressed when bulb is stowed and it's too easy to hit multiple buttons when you only want to hit one. Pros: + Aputure's color accuracy + can be powered vial light socket or internal battery + basic functions can be used wihtout app if needed Cons: - no USB charging/ can only charge in AC light socket - buttons on bulb easy to miss-press - limited status/feedback on the bulb ... show more

  • Great value light!
The overall functionality on this light is amazing… if you use the app. The button system sucks, though I’m glad it’s there. But, the app control is AWESOME and it’s ability to integrate with other Apurture lights is clutch! Happy with this buy and eventually want the 8 light kit. Need a 600d first though, lol. ... show more
