Did I need it? No. Do I love it? Yes. I made it work on sliding panels over a patio door by twist tieing it to the wand bracket. A little adjustment in the closed setting so it didn't get stuck on the valance end cap and it's working beautifully. I didn't buy the hub (and don't need it) and it took a little searching to find the scheduling option on the app (under More). I scheduled for partial opening first thing in the morning with the sun is too bright through the door, then full open a few hours later. Partial close tells me it's time to call the cats inside and full close is bedtime.

Love the switchbot since I have a window in my loft far too high to open and close the curtains without getting on a ladder daily. This saved from that. However, the app and Bot software get updated infrequently, and when they do problems arise. Worked just fine when I first got it.. now won't calibrate, tries to continue closing after reaching the end of the track, or loses connection constantly. Would be nice to have a bit more software dependency.

This is an awesome invention but unfortunately it didn’t work for us. I can see how this is useful. It was easy to set up and worked seamlessly. Our curtain wasn’t the right specs but might purchase again as we put up new curtains.

After you charge the battery and figure it out it does take about 30 seconds to install. Mine even runs over 2 connecting pieces and it works great. I use it to shut out the late afternoon sun.

I used the IKEA Vidga rail. If the rail is adjoined with another and the connection isn’t 100% perfectly aligned, it creates too much friction and the bot won’t glide across. I really had high hopes. If you’re using a continuous rail with no extensions, it probably would work.

This model will only fit a U rail that has open gap less than 1/2 inch. Otherwise it won't mount to the rail. What do I mean by an open gap? Make the shape of your U rail with your finger and thumb, like an open A-Ok sign. The space between your finger and thumb is the open gap. I've reached out to customer support.
