When you get the machine, take it out of the box and let it sit upright for 24 hours before turning it on. This will allow any fluids to return to their normal places. The second thing to do before using it is to run it for 4 cycles just to make sure any dirt or other particles are clear from the lines. This machine does make 9 cubes every 7-8 minutes as stated. There are 2 size options. There is very little difference in the two sizes so I chose small. To begin, you will pour water into the water tank but do not exceed the max full line (holds up to 16 oz water). If you do, the finished ice will sit in water and melt. Turn the machine on and it will go to work. In 7 minutes, the ice will drop and will be scooped into the ice basket. It is a good idea to empty the ice basket often because the machine is not a freezer so the fresh ice will gradually melt. If you are not able to empty the ice basket and it becomes full, the machine will shut itself off until it is emptied. It will also shut itself off when it runs out of water. The process will resume when you empty the basket or add water. It took exactly 2 hours to convert the 16 oz of water needed to fill the water tank to 2 ½ lb of ice (small cubes). I want to store my ice so I was able to fit 4 lb of the small cubes into a 1-gallon zip top freezer bag. Noise level isn’t annoying or disruptive at all. You will hear the motor and fan, and you will hear it drop ice, but you will not need to modify volume of speech or television. When I was finished, I ran the self-cleaning cycle. It took 13 minutes to complete. Then I pulled the drain plug located under the machine toward the left front. You will feel a rubber plug, simply pull it out and let the water drain. Do not pour the water out because you don’t want to cause redistribution of the fluids. I dried it thoroughly with a paper towel and let it air out for awhile before storing it. I give it 5 stars because it works great for me. I’m making enough ice for just myself and an occasional visitor but I don’t know if I would want to make ice for an entire family this way.

There must be 50 or more of these icemakers on Amazon and everyone is one of the "bullet" type. Their hype reads the same because they are all basically the same icemaker with minimally different external changes. Many are virtually identical. All make 9 bullet icecubes & appear to be just one mechanism in a bunch of slightly different dresses. All made in China (when they are forced to admit it). Ice "cubes" are bullet shaped, with a hollow inner core, so maximum ice is exposed to your liquid, guaranteeing quick defrosting in a drink, not making it cold enough and diluting it. Best use is to put ice in a container & put it in your freezer, where it really will get colder & denser, while the machine is making more ice for when that is gone. If you think you're saving space in the freezer, you won't. Just another Amazon trick of having scores of "associate stores" selling the same product while appearing to be competitors, but really being the same essential machine. If one doesn't get you, another will. I want a machine that will make real ice cubes or crescents that have the density & minimal area exposed to the liquid in your drink so they don't melt in minutes. I have yet to find it. I'm going to return this fetid dingo's kidney of a machine. Note: it has twice hung up on me when it's sweep that is supposed to move all 9 bullets into the catch basin misses one because there is a blocking one already in the bin in that position & keeps on trying to sweeep it back in. The bin is not full, just that corner is blocked, but the machine is essentially doing a "wash, rinse & repeat" and will not make more ice until I push the cube into the bin myself. If you like chewing on ice, this is your machine. The ice is soft enough to chew on right out of the bin. Otherwise, stick with a refrigerator icemaker or several ice trays on a small rack in your freezer & resign yourself to refilling them as you empty them. What's Amazon going to do when the tariff is put on goods from China. Almost all of their current merch is Chinese or uses mainly Chinese parts (as does almost everything in your brick & mortar stores). There's going to be a lot of buyer's remorse over this last election as prices shoot up.

I don’t know how a new fridge doesn’t come with an Ice Maker. Mine didn’t so I purchased this. It is simple to use. Pour in the water and ice starts to make really fast. There isn’t any real noise at least I don’t hear it. The ice isn’t cubed ice so if that is what you want you will not get it. I use purified water in making ice so the taste is great. When it is time to clean I take the tray out and clean it. Really easy. The only downside to me is the ice cubes melt fast. So, don’t think you are going to sit all day with a mason jar of ice and lemonade and tea. It isn’t going to happen. Even in a yeti the ice melted faster than normal.

Even though I have an ice maker in my fridge, it takes forever to get one cup of ice. I love having this ice machine. It is so convenient and the size is just perfect on my countertop.
