  • Good for short rides
Color: Blue
I bought this for myself (140lb woman) so I could travel about 4 miles a day on crappy asphalt in the middle of nowhere for a work trip. It worked great, 10/10. It takes ~4 hours to charge fully. It got rained on multiple times. It hit a lot of potholes and went through sand. It folds perfectly. I carried a couple pounds worth of work/beach gear and it still went 15mph. Only downsides: If you hit strong wind you’ll go pretty slow. It really does only last for about 5 miles max range. The handles you screw on are a little wobbly and come undone easily. Other than that, this scooter does exactly what it said it would. I was pleasantly surprised. As long as you don’t intentionally treat it like garbage then it should last awhile. ... show more

  • not a quality product and not supported by their customer service
I want to preface this by saying I do not usually write product “reviews”, but I do rely on them when making decisions. With that said, I hope what I have to say may help others in deciding on these scooters as a purchase. I bought two of them and gave them as Christmas gifts to my two daughters (one is 10 and the other is 11). The scooters were received December 2, 2019 and opened (obviously) on December 25, 2019. The girls LOVED the scooters and rode them as soon as we charged them up. From there, the scooters received what I would call average to occasional use. These were not ridden every day, or even every other day. And we’re ridden for maybe 30 minutes or so when they were ridden. They were only ridden on the street and sidewalk in front of our house. No jumps, no off road, no major hill climbs. The scooters were fully charged after every use and stored in doors. In no way were these scooters “ridden hard” or abused at all. Nonetheless, about two weeks ago (first week of April, 2020) the first scooter started having power issues. It would turn on and “boot up” but would then turn itself off. Pressing the power button again did nothing and the whole scooter went dead. Give it a couple days and the power button would power it on, boot up, then shut itself off again. I contacted swagtron customer service and was given an rma for the scooter. Send it in, at my expense, and they would look at it. With the state of things, sending in that scooter was not a top priority. So it sat there. About one week later, my other daughter took her scooter outside for a ride. It powered on but froze the rear wheel. NO amount of throttle freed it up. The whee was just locked frozen solid. Turn the scooter off, and the whee is freed to turn again. Turn it back on and the wheel is frozen and will not move. So, back online with swagtron customer service. After waiting for a response, I am told that my scooters are “way out of warranty” as they have passed the normal 90 day warranty. If I want them looked at, swagtron would authorize an rma for both scooters and I could send them in (my own time and packaging and, I’m assuming,’postage). I was then told that it would be a standard repair fee of $59.99 PER SCOOTER to have swagtron techs look at the scooters and diagnose their issues. From there I would be SENT AN INVOICE from their techs with the parts that need repair or replacement....with me covering 100% of those costs. Long story short, I have almost $400 worth of scooters that functioned for about 120 days before the quality parts and assembly by swagtron took a complete dump. Now my scooters do not work. My daughters are out two things that they loved. And I am being told it will be a MINIMUM of 120.00 for the scooters to be looked at and then be charged the costs of repair. If swagtron can not build a product that they are confident will last more than 1/3 of a year, then I say you do not purchase one! ... show more

  • Great scooter
Color: Blue
I though this was a great purchase for the money spent. I have bought scooters in the past for my older son, and this one is definitely a much more sturdy scooter. It actually goes pretty fast, and the controls are easy to use. The only complaint I have is the kickstand is not very durable.

  • Great value for the money
Color: Blue
My 7 year old son has been using his Swagtron Swagger scooter for 21 days and clocked about 42 miles so far. He's averaging around 8+ miles per charge going mostly full throttle which is 14 -15 mph. For $178 I'm quite pleased with it. It appears and feels sturdy and quality made. It's whisper quiet and easy to control. My one ane only complaint was one of the handle bar grips did not line up properly upon assembly. I just kept turning the handle until the rubber grip started to rotate to the proper position on the handle shaft. It took a little elbow grease, but not a huge issue. With all the features that you get for the price and my experience with it so far I would recommend it. ... show more

  • Avoid this brand like a bad disease
We bought this in November as a Christmas gift that was opened on December 25. My son was excited about the scooter and it seemed to work just fine out of the box. Fast forward less than 3 months to March 18, 2020. The barrel plug on the charger pulled out rendering the charger useless. We submitted a ticket to Swagton and were told we would need to buy a new charger. Just over 2 weeks later on April 5, the scooter suddenly stopped working as my child was using it. We made sure the battery was fully charged using the charger from another Swagtron scooter, yet it would not turn on. I submitted a ticket to Swagtron again who said they were sorry for the inconvenience, but the warranty was past the 90 day purchase date. If there are two independent electronic issues shortly after the 90 day mark, that gives a huge indication of the quality of the unit. One electrical issue I can understand, but not two independent issues. I will never buy another Swagtron, nor will I recommend a Swagtron to any of my friends and associates. The unit is worthless and will be disposed of. By the way, the Swagtron website references a 1 year warranty not tied to any specific product: “This Limited Warranty covers the original purchaser from any defects in material or workmanship under normal use for one year from the date of invoice.” But the warranty from the units you buy from Amazon are only 90 day, even though the same units (Swagger 8) are the same price. When I brought this up to the Swagtron warranty people, their response was: “ For this particular model and a few other models we only offer a 90-day warranty which would begin from the date of purchase till one year. All other higher priced models would come with a One year warranty.“ Even the Swagtron people mixed up their wording on their response email between the 90-day and the one year warranty. I would avoid this brand like it was a bad disease and go with another more reliable brand with a longer stated warranty. You will avoid the challenges, difficulties, and disappointments I have gone through. ... show more
