I bought these to add to my current patio string (purchased at lowes). The wire gauge and durability is good likewise the housing and sockets. I tried these with two dimmers, your cheap sliding dimmer (worked with three strings 75 feet ), I later installed a kasa dimmer switch which worked very well with three strings, definitely the preferred set up. If you plan to use these for outdoor mood lighting say in a patio or gazebo you will need a dimmer.     • The bulbs themselves break VERY easily - be very, very careful!

The cable and the sockets seem to be very sturdy. The bulbs are another thing entirely. I was working with a friend to install and we were both very careful but if you gently put a strand down on the ground, the bulb will shatter. And once it shatters it is very difficult to remove from the socket - it completely fell apart. Yes, they did provide 2 extra bulbs but we broke two during the installation and needed a shop vac to clean up - the broken glass was all over the place. The bulbs are very flimsy - the glass is as thin as you can possibly imagine. They do look beautiful but again, be very careful in handling them. I went to buy some replacements and Svater no longer offers them ... I wonder if they are having an issue with these breaking ... I'm going to look for some shatterproof bulbs to eventually replace. ... show more

These are the best value of cafe lights. I spent hours online searching and these give you the best value in my opinion. It seems that these manufacturers changed from providing a 50 foot string w/ 24 bulbs, to a 45 to 50 foot string w/ only 15 bulbs. These worked great, the material is of outdoor quality and they worked as they should. we hung these in my wife' grandmothers house in Mexicali, Mexico. Edit: Found a way to communicate with the seller and the defective strand is being replaced. Very happy about this. Changed from 2 ⭐️ to 5 ⭐️. Product is terrific. I bought 2 two-packs, last November and just got around to installing them now that spring has sprung. So to be clear, I have four strands total. Three of the strands work great and I love them. They're everything I hoped they would be. The 4th strand has never lit up. It blows the fuse every time I plug it in. Doesn't matter what outlet, what phase the moon is in, whether the tide is in or out, or anything else. The string is defective and Amazon says they can't be returned. I have no idea how to get in touch with the seller. I'm pretty numbed about it. These are premium lights and cost a fair bit, so to lose 25% of my purchase leaves me feeling deflated. ... show more

I bought 2 sets of these "2 pack" lights to string around our back yard pool area. I was looking for a warm light. These are slightly whiter than I had hoped for but they're not overpoweringly white. Out of the 60 bulbs and sockets and 196' of strings that I hung, I had one bad socket...not a bad bulb but a bad socket. It was about middle through my last strand of lights to hang. I wanted to be finished with this project so rather than take them back down and return them I worked around it. It ended up right at the corner of the house so it was easy enough to work around it. Alexa integration through the Treat Lofe dimmer switch (purchased separately) provides easy control so I don’t have to go to outside in the dark to the outlet to plug them in! These are heavy duty. The command product suggested to purchase to install didn’t work. First dewy morning, they came off the aluminum siding around the patio but stayed snuggly attached to the overhang of the side of the house, despite cleaning the surface during installation. The command strips hangers were a waste of money. Had to use Christmas light hanger around the patio. Very satisfied with the lights. Provides nice ambient lighting and can dim using Alexa! Wasn’t simple to set up for those of us who aren’t tech savvy, multi step process, involves reading instruction though the Treat Life app, switching back and forth between Alexa app and TreatLife app to get it right. Didn’t work correctly initially, took a few minutes for info to populate in Alexa. Couple hours later, Alexa did her job! ... show more

    • Carefully consider if glass is what you want, find cheaper replacement fuses elsewhere

I chose these based on positive reviews, dimmable bulbs, and fact that the bulbs were glass which I thought was what I wanted so that they didn't get that frosted-over look that plastic gets and could be cleaned easier. That's true in theory, but in practice the glass gets dirty outside so it's probably a push on that side, but bigger issue is that glass can break in your yard (say if your kid throws a ball at it or if lightning strikes it - both happened to me), and that glass can end up all over the place in the yard with no real way to sweep it up like you could if it broke indoors. I mentioned the lightning strike - it hit the cord and ruined one of the strands, the others had badly blown fuses and most bulbs fried. The fuses are very expensive (hence knocking off one star) but I found a replacement that worked well for me via a competitor's website. Just search for Unique Bargains 10 x Glass Cartridge Slow Blow Axial Fuse 3.6x10mm 250V 6.3A. When they arrive, you'll need to cut off the lead wires and sand down the nubs so they fit in the stand, but they were literally 5x cheaper than the ceramic ones on amazon. Also note that this is 6.3A not 8 so you theoretically can link fewer of these together, but at 2W per bulb, I'm guessing it's not really an issue in practice.
