This tea kettle is convenient to fill, either at the spout or by removing the lid. When the spout is opened it stays open without holding it. Push the button to close it. The base is only 5" in dia. so it does take longer to boil water than my old tea kettle since I have to use a smaller burner. It's also quite heavy, the silver one is nearly 2 lbs. I probably would have found a lighter weight kettle for my arthritic hands/wrists but I'm happy with it.

I ordered the red one. It looks so pretty, Christmas red. Can’t wait for the holiday season! Very well made, beautiful design. I love the rubber at the handle which is safer to use. The whistle is loud enough. I use medium to low heating and fill the right amount of water, as it’s stated in the instruction. Hopefully the pain won’t fade. So far, love it!

I wanted a Red teapot. A nice one. This looked like it would fill the bill and on delivery it seemed like it might be okay. My first impression of it was that it was a little... cheaply made and the design not well thought out. Particularly in the handle. The plastic handle is wrapped in the front with metal. Right where you need to grab it. Once you put the heat to it, you'll burn your hand if you don't use a hot pad. The button that opens the spout isn't easy to work with a hot pad. But, I dealt with it. It does whistle quite well though and the bottom is nice and thick. After having it for about 10 months, I discovered yesterday that the red is bubbling and peeling off of the handle. I use this kettle strictly for making pitchers of iced tea and have never left it on the heat any longer than it takes to boil a full kettle. Not half, not low, not boiled dry... Full kettle. And I babysit it while it's heating up. So, looks like it's turned out to be good for the landfill. That's an unfortunate waste of money. Meanwhile, I'm back on the hunt for a red teapot. Only this time I'll look at the handle a lot more carefully before purchasing.
