Years ago, I built a stone outdoor fire pit and bought a ring-kit from Home Depot. My original ring was advertised as 36 inches. Over the years, it corroded. I used this as a replacement, but note that the ring is not as large as the original one I used. Fortunately, it still fit, albeit not as fully. One thing to note is that it does NOT have any drain hole. So, unless you want to keep emptying this when it rains, you will need to drill holes. I did and have not had any problems with standing water. So far...so good. Lastly, it is not as deep of a bowl as my last one, but I am fine with that. Reasonable price. Fairly light to handle when dumping ash load. Would recommend from previous experience not allowing water from rain to accumulate in bowl. This caused my previous bowl to rust out the bottom of the bowl. Empty out and flip over when not in use in rainy weather conditions.

This works great as a lid for our 36” dia firepit. Dome side up. Added an old galvanized garage door handle. When done with fire - just toss this on an go inside. No wondering if you really need to put the fire out - no discussion of who will do it… Wood quickly stops burning. Pit and leftover wood nice and dry for next fire. This is way lighter (my wife can easily use it) and way cheaper than purpose built ‘snuffer’ lids elsewhere on Amazon. Shipping was fine - no dents, couple of scratches touched up with rattle can BBQ Grill paint. Got the idea from a previous reviewer of this product. Smart tip. This install: Adjusted cap stones out a bit before gluing them down to allow the lid to bear on the inner steel ring flange. Tried it with lid bearing on the cap stones but leaked too much air to put fire out fully - but it still contained sparks and shed rain. ... show more

This is a nice replacement for our smaller saucer. Its matte black finish appears to be durable and we like the wide, shallow bowl. What we don't like: there is no vent or drain in the bottom. Ashes show against the matte black. The Amazon description says it's 39 inches, but the box it comes in says it's 38. I haven’t even had this thing a couple of months and already there’s rust developing on it, I guess I should go to the store and buy some rust oleum since the makers of this item, put such a crap coat of paint that it’s already rusting SMH. UPDATE: I did not reach out to the seller but THEY reached out to ME! They apologized for the QC of the item and worked with me to make it RIGHT!!!
