  • was good for about 3 months
bought in July 2017 ,was good for about 3 months. Oct it started to fall apart by Dec 2017 it was ready for the trash. It had to be thrown away. Was used on Friday& Saturday nights for pleasure, sitting around talking, roasting marshmallows & on Halloween it fit in with the theme. It looked scary. Would suggest that you not buy this product. Unless you want to buy one every summer. Poor quality burnt rite through the designee, lattice - holes in 2 months, dish collapsed onto the legs. Take a look at the photos & decide for yourself. ... show more

  • Cheaply made
After I assembled the unit the handle to the fire screen cover broke off the screw that attaches it to the fire screen. I called Sunnydaze customer service to get a replacement handle for the fire screen. They refused to send me a replacement handle because I bought the product from Amazon and not directly from Sunnydaze - although the warranty in the box states if there is a problem to contact them and they would send a replacement part. I was not looking for a free handle I asked if I could buy one and they refused to sell it to me and hung up on me. Unfortunately you cannot lift the fire screen without a handle. I looked online to purchase a handle that would fit but I cannot find one that will work so I have no choice but to return the product. ... show more

  • Lasted 6 Years, which I consider quite good
I’ve had this for 6 years, and it’s time to replace it, so I’m getting the exact same one. The corrosive effects of ash are significant, so when combined with the elements, I consider 6 years of use to be quite good. I got this 6 years with more care given to the unit than most would give. A healthy layer of Playground sand on the bottom, to keep the ash from directly contacting the metal base for prolonged periods definitely helped. Also, I like the size a lot. It’s plenty big. ... show more

  • Typical Chinese Junk...
What a hunk of junk. Banged up and bruised inside box. Screen doesn't even fit without massive reshaping. Legs attached by set screws that don't even match to a receiving hole. No water drain holes. The handles are wobbly even after tightening screws. For $200 I was hoping for even something decent...based on all the good comments. Isn't there an American company making fire pits of quality???? ** Sept 12th update: Just FYI...the bottoms of the feet are RUSTING and they have scared the rock decking with yellow circles. The inside is also rusting after only a few months. Yes, I use the cover all the time except in use. ... show more

  • A Great Test Unit to Determine Your Desire for a Real fire Pit
The product is exactly as described except for some vocabulary issues: 1- A "Fire pit" means to me to be a heavy duty device, masonry or heavy metal designed to burn logs outdoors. 2- A "Grate" to means a cast iron device capable of supporting burning logs. 3- "Durable" means to me a product designed to last a number of years with reasonable use. 4- "Bronze" to me is is a kind of metal, not the color of a cheap paint. The product description contains clues (like "Point of Origin: China") that the product will be cheap and of minimal quality. I should have noticed the warning especially when coupled with the price. A "fire pit" that matches the description would cost 3 to 5 times the price of this product. The problem is that the metal is so thin you can easily distort it with your hands. Mine arrived with a dent in the side. I easily pushed it out and back to its original shape with my thumb. The "grate" is a cheap painted metal grid that would not be acceptable on a big box cheap barbeque grill rack. The fire pit tool is short, thin, and nearly useless. The grill cover seems to be of average quality. So why a 3 rating? It is basically what was described and will probably last a season or two when rarely used. Perfect for my needs. If we enjoy using it we will have a contractor build a real fire pit on or near the patio. This faux fire pit gives us a chance to try the concept at a cheap price until it rusts through. So, use small pieces of wood, keep the fire small, and never drop it. ... show more

  • Be prepared to be creative
It's beautiful but fit and finish are not very good. One of the legs in my order would not work with the screws included with order and stripped the screws because the holes were not big enough. Had to use larger screws but still can't get it tight UPDATE: The seller immediately responded to my query and sent me three new legs as well as the screws and they arrived in just a few days. My seller has excellent customer service and communication ... show more

  • Great product and perfect size but terrible screws
The pot itself is the perfect size and looks great. It's big enough for you to have a stack of 2 logs x 2 logs and more and it won't come near the edges. The firescreen dome that goes over top is a huge benefit when the fire gets started to keep debris and protect kids. On the same topic, the encircling bar is a bit of a protection for kids too. It even comes with a nice rain-cover. However, I don't give it full 5 stars because the screws are cheap aluminum chinese screws that strip instantly. Yes, the product loses a star for cheap screws. The footings that keep the pit up are solid and sufficient, the bucket is strong, the barrier bar decent, the screen is good. But the screws are terrible. If I had more patience, I would have just taken the packaged screws & bolts to Home Depot and bought equivalent, proper, tough, galvanized USA-made screws; I recommend that you buy this pit, but do exactly that -- it will cost you an extra $5. Also, with regard to attaching the footings, I found a little grease helped tighten the poorly machined bolt treads. Great product. Terrible screws. ... show more
